Default VQ35HR Shortblock w/ forged internals

MODS CLOSE

VQ35HR short block fully built, using Wiseco forged pistons 8.8:1 CR 96mm, Brian Crower sportsman forged connecting rods with ARP 2000 3/8" rod bolts, OEM bearings/ thrust washers, and ARP main studs. All machine work was done by Duffin Engine Service in San Antonio, TX. All bolts torqued in 5ftlb increments until final torque spec. All bolts torqued in sequence according to the FSM. Grey RTV applied according to FSM.

VQ35HR bare long block: $3000 + shipping + paypal fees
If you have already own an HR engine I will also trade this engine plus cash on your end.

FOR EVERYTHING BELOW: $5000 + shipping + paypal fees
ALL reasonable offers will be considered.

Updated: OEM vq35hr head gaskets, OEM main seals, and ARP L19 head studs used.

Torque specs (ft*lbs)
Main bolts: 60
Rod bolts: 42
Head studs: 95

Clearances (inches)
Main bearings: 0.0032
Rod bearings: 0.0035
Ring Gaps: 0.020
Piston wall clearance: 0.020

These tolerances were chosen to run 15W-40 oil and a generous amount of boost and a goal of at least 600whp.

Short block assembled with pistons facing up

Short block assembled with crank and rods facing up

A little hard to see, but heres the detail on the rod bolts.

Got the heads back form the machine shop. Nice and clean with a light mil to clean off the gasket material and dirt. New OEM head gaskets on the left and ARP L19's

Receipt of machine shop work. Everything checked out way better than expected.

Cleaned the deck mating surfaces really good

Little hard to see but yeah, they are indeed ARP L19's!

Somehow, the ARP kit has one washer bigger than the others so I'm waiting on the new one to arrive to put the other head on and finish the engine.

Both heads on and torqued to 95 ft*lbs in sequence according to FSM and in 5 ft*lb increments to insure "even-ness" of loading. Cams also on now

Timing components on and yes on time. Aligned with ovals on left bank and circles for the right bank regarding the secondary chains. Cyl 1 is approx at TDC and all dots line up. I lubed up a few things and cranked it over twice to check for binding and it rotated without problem

Buncha new O-rings and the main seals.

As soon as I put the lower pan on, I noticed it was slightly warped (I guess from prying it off initially) so it will need another one to be slapped on. I will still ship the engine with the existing pan. CZP sells them individually.

JK40C transmission approx 60k miles. Black sensor plug on the left of the tranny in the picture is a little banged up. Sensor most likely still works but attaching the plug may be tricky.

07-08 engine and interior wiring harness with HR ecu

Twin disc clutch. Very dirty but also barely broken in.

HR waffle twin intake manifold + throttle bodies + all hoses + air boxes (missing driver-side filter) + transmission mount

The built HR as it sits today with all the accessories mounted.

Bump

Feel free to send low ball offers, I'm still trying to get a feel of what this short block is actually worth. Companies whom sell crate motors and such seem to price these closer to 4k with a core charge.

Original engine was claimed to have roughly 30k miles, I'm taking the heads to the machine shop tomorrow morning for a little touch up work and then slapping them on. Will be selling this as a built long block shortly.

Parts to be added will be new OEM head gaskets, ARP L19 headstuds, new seals and such.

pics and price updates will follow accordingly.

Thanks for your interest

Why are you building this if your not going to use it?

Lol but the plan was to build it and then fab up a custom turbo kit to shoot for at least 600whp. I came to the realization that a stock HR and boost would be more than enough.

I figured the engine would sell better if it was built so some one could just do a straight drop in. That's why I'm completing it. All the forged parts had already been purchased so it would be wasteful not to finish it. At this point I want to see someone else boost this thing and have fun with it.

Well keep in mind the price is very negotiable. Pm me what you think it's worth. I'm not looking to make a killing on selling this thing (although the extra dough would be nice)

If you still have this near the end of November, I will see about making a deal.
