Another SEIBON Fitment PROBLEM! thread!!
Ok well i just got around to test fitting my seibon TS-II hood and, it doesnt fit. It hits the strut bar.
I even called seibon before i ordered regarding these problems that i have been reading about with their hoods. They told me all the problems had been resolved and that they gauruntee Fitment.
well here i am with a worthless $650 sitting on my car.
Im going to call seibon on monday and raise hell.
Anybody thats already been through this have any suggestions on what i should do?

My Seibon VS hood doesn't want to close on the second click. IMO, some, if not most Seibon hoods have some kind of problem.
I've spoken to Seibon about my problem and they have done NOTHING to help.
Basically, you can just return the hood. Or you can take off your strut bar and keep the hood.
I've read a thread in the past about replacing the stock strut bar with a lower/thinner strut to clear the Seibon hood, but I didn't find out which brand. Seibon hood owners, any suggestions /comments about this?

There is no bar on the market that is thinner than the stock one that will help you with this problem. If it is thinner, it is wider, and will still be a problem. On top of that, there is bar that is really that much thinner than the stock one. I've talked to some people who haven't had any issues with this hood, but good luck getting it resolved.

yeah thats great^^^^ who in the hell wants to spend all that money on a hood....than go through all the trouble you just mentioned just to get it to fit.
And whoever said is it really that bad to not run the strut bar. Obviously you dont know how a car gets its stability.
If you sacrifice the feel of your car for a foking hood and thinks thats ok....than your a moron
i will let everybody know what happens when i call them.@!

When I had my Seibon hood I had to use hood pins to hold it down over the strut bar. Be extremely careful trying to latch it though, I cracked the clear coat along the nose of the hood. Good luck.

hey hey, there is nothing wrong with taiwanese manufacturing, just that they don't make quality stuff like CHina does. Maybe seibon needs to give some contracts to China. =)... (Note I am chinese)

BTW my seibon Cf hood weighed in exactly what the stock hood weighed. about 23 1/2 lbs.

Reducing performance?? I notice absolutely no difference without it on. I didn't take it off to make the hood fit, i took it off so that i wouldn't worry about it being so close to the kinetix plenum. Yes, it does help the rigidity of the car but i think that more so applies to someone who is tracking their car or really tossing it around. If for some reason i notice a problem, it will go back on. Or if i find an aftermarket strut bar that fits well with the hood and the kinetix plenum, i would buy it.
