Default To Hood-pin or not to hood-pin

So I've got a Seibon VT Hood sitting in my living room that I need to work on getting painted and mounted. I'm wondering if I NEED to use hood-pins to keep this thing on safely, or if the stock latch assembly is enough. I don't really like the Sparco hood-pins that I got with it because I've seen so many sets on cars that are starting to rust and they look pretty tacky.

I've found some locking pins that look really nice, and are smaller, and a set that are self-locking that are nice but quite pricey.

I would prefer to not use them if I can get away with it just because I think they break up the lines of the car.

So what do you all think, hood-pins or no hood-pins?

Any input greatly appreciated.

No hood-pins, Dave@ActiveTuning is using the stock latch on his Seibon TS.

I have hood pins on mine. Just not worth taking chances when a few others have had theirs break.
