New Mod for my Lambo Doors
As I posted many moons ago, my son accidentally vertically opened up my passenger side Lambo door before he had it out far enough horizontally.
This caused a big ding in the door panel on the inside of the door. I did the same thing later although to a much less noticible degree on the driver's side.
I have been trying to come up with a way to put some kind of pad or bumper on this area to #1 cover up the dings and #2 prevent them from happening again in the future.
Here is what I did:
I bought these door edge guard bumpers from Autosport.

They are called the "slim line" door edge guards on the above page.
I cut them and then attempted to simply peel off the adhesive and stick them on.
This didn't work very well since #1 the adhesive wasn't strong enought and didn't stick well to the "snake skin" of the door panel and #2 the place were I needed to stick them is approximately a 90 degree angled section of door panel.
I then took a sharp knife and dug out a "V" shaped groove in the sticky side of the guard. I then used a hot glue gun to glue them on with the "V" shaped notch draped over the 90 degree edge of the panel.

hmm nice attempt bonz but i think i want to go for something a little more visually appealing although i do feel your pain. some idiots at car shows don't know how to look but NOT touch:
I never really understood how Lambo doors work. So you open the door out normally, and then swing it up? So is it possible to open the door normally and not lift it to avoid attracting too much attention?

Yes. You can open it normally almost as far out as with the stock hinge. But if you lift it up too soon (before it gets to it's horizontal limit) you get what you see in the pic posted above.
man all your doors look good compared to what mine look like, no matter how many times i tell the guys that do work to my car whenevr i drop it off somewhere it always gets messed up again. Thats the down side to having these lambo doors.
