Default Why not handle bar on driver's side?

This has been on my mind for a long time now, if I had to guess why, it's prolly because the window switches are in the way or something? The passenger side w/ the Z accented handle looks so much better, WHY WHY WHY not the driver's side? It's not like the passenger side doesn't have a window swtich. Or is it because it obscures driving, does it really get in the way of steering? Has anyone put a handle on their driver's side? :P

I dun own a Z, so i didn't know if the steering would get in the way. But so many cars are symetrical at the doors, sigh. for some odd reason, no handle bars on the driver's side really turns me off lol

no the steering is not in the way per se...its just that when driving, you should be holding on to the steering wheel. Think about it...when would the passenger really need to and grab on to the handle bars? It's either when the car is cornering or when its an emergency situation where the driver needs to react quickly, right? So what if the driver is holding on to a handle bar too when cornering or in an emergency situation? Get it?

If it wasn't in the way, I'd wish they add it in, but o well. I think the handles make the car that much better looking. I guess I'm just no used to seeing a car that has asymetrical doors I think the handles add more personality to it. Maybe someone will fabricate one hehehe

If you really wanted one, try ordering a JDM version since their passenger side door will be on the left side (our driver side). It should work but you'll then need to find how to relocate the side mirror controls since this is the only control I feel that will be hard to reach if you install this bar.

LOL I'm looking to buy a new Z base model in about 12 months and this is one of the things about the interior that bugs me a lot too. Actually quite a few things about the interior that bug me. I also don't like how the drivers seat is raised in the crotch area but the passenger seat is not, unless of course you got the $$$ ventilated leather ones. yea I know the pasenger doesnt need it blah blah but it's still looks annoying. I also noticed that the factory DVD player is located almost behind the drivers seat, instead of in the middle or better yet how about putting it in the dash instead guys? LOL Oh yes one other thing I really hate, NO GLOVE BOX!! Yea they got that silly thing in front unless you have a DVD then that storage is gone. The arm rest storage is a joke. Annoying as the interior is, it aint enough to stop me from buying one:-D

There is a glove box, it's just behind the passenger's seat, not in front, and it's huge compared to any other glove box. As for the factory 'DVD' player, that's hard to reach, isn't it just for navigation, and you are rarely, if ever, going to change that disc.

And back to the original question, the handle is so far forward it gives you little leverage for opening and closing the door, at least my wife cant use it to open the door on any kind of incline.

The whole Nissan philosophy was to build a purposeful driving machine, so if it's not about hustling the car around at high speed it got low priority.

what really frustrates me is the 'Oh ****' handles in the front seat in my Xterra. They are on the A pillar, not on the roofline. That is def the #1 complaint of my passengers.

The Z definitely has some ergonomic issues that would of been easily fixed if they gave it two minutes lol, but it's still a heck of a car nontheless. It's definitely not a cheap too so to speak...o well, i'm still going to buy one hahaha

heh well not in mine either but there are in fact cupholders. 3 actually. one over on the passenger dash that you push in on and it pops out. then the two in the console btwn the two seats. its a little back from easy reach but they are there. and there is a glovebox even if you got navigation. and yes the navigation system is only for the dvd nav not for movies. you can add a dvd player and wire it into the stock screen. but thats the only way to watch movies

I am sorry I was having flashbacks to the inane complaints there were 2 1/2 years ago when the prototype first came out.
