The plug and caps can be removed very easily.

how much does it cost to take it to a shop and cover that hole so it would look like there was nothing ever installed there? i dont dig those plastic plugs at all. it looks better with a wiper, then with a plug

It would most likely cost $300-$400.

sekzee - it wont look bad at all. just paint it white.

pumpedva -

i've looked too but all the sink hole covers i've found were bigger than 1 inch.

what i've found is a vinyl 1 inch hole cover just like A_16 at ace hardware. just trim it a bit and glue/silicone it over the hole.

Go to the fastener Isle. usually 1 or 2 large tool box looking things with drawers. They will have pics on the drawers of whats inside. metric screws are in this area also.
what you want is a heilmman 7/8" black nylon hole plug.

Lebby and the rest, that looks awesome! I guess I never would've thought of that had I not seen this. Looks very clean indeed.

Here's a picture of mine. I took off the wiper and installed a fiber optics cap over the wiper shaft to protect the threads. I'll reinstall it for the winter. It should take me like 3 minutes to have a functioning wiper again.

For me it's a good summertime mod.

Heck you can't see my mod from the rear of the car because of the spoiler anyways (well kinda) I figure the washer nossle pokes up a bit so unless I fill that and the wiper motor hole it gonna show anyways. Still looks better than the wiper on the rear window in the summer.

However, I have to admit that deleting the wiper and nossle altogether would be really nice. Maybe I'll just do this:

OK, so now I spent a whole 10 minutes taking out the wiper motor. If I start driving my car in the rain a lot, which I really doubt since I have a '01 Pathfinder, I will put the wiper motor and blade back on. I am sure I could do this in under 30min. If I had to do this every spring and fall it would be worth it in my opinion. I do not think I would ever use the rear wiper on this car. I have to get the plug and paint it later today. I will post pictures after the plug is in.

As promised, here are the shots of the plug painted and installed. I used spray paint that I had bought for touch up of chips. I used clear silicone adhesive to seal the plug. I used a piece of duct tape and a cable tie to secure the wiper motor harness so that I could use it again and so that it wouldn't rattle around in the hatch area. It all worked out really good. The painting and installation of the plug took like another half hour. So, total time for this mod is about 1 hour. Take your time so you do not scratch anything.

Even though the below option to cap off the wiper shaft looks good. The above option looks really good IMHO. I am glad I went the extra step. If I ever decide to reinstall the wiper motor and arm it will go on in under 30 minute. So, I really don't see any down side to taking the motor out and plugging the hole.

Enjoy the ride .....

I want to remove the wiper motor and arm; and I want to remove the Nissan and Z emblems too. Like you I want to weld and re-paint. How much did the weld/re-paint cost? Thanks!
