Would stripping/sanding the clear coat off, then getting a layer of black flecks x3 clearcoat make Silverstone look closer to a gunmetal color? What about the combination of that + gunmetal wheels? Would I be better off to just do one layer of a gunmetal paint color and then clearcoat x3 (instead of stripping silverstone off).

Isn't the Z's "Silverstone" considered "gunmetal" in the UK?
The name "silverstone" is just a race track they named the color after. Like "daytona"?



But I know what you mean by going a darker gunmetal like volks, gunship gunmetal or charcoal. Ours is more of a beretta 9mm gunmetal.

Judging from some paintjobs I've seen, I say just strip the whole damn thing and go with an existing "coded" color so it's easier to colormatch if you ever get into an accident, or decide to change body kits. It'd be easier to just use "House of Kolor", or a brand of paint that is already formulated with a code, and do that.
Putting flakes on an existing color seems like alot of work, especially if you ever want to replicate it. You have to find the WV2 code of the silverstone then get the correct amount of flakes to darken it again and match the rest of the car.

Good luck though, I'd love to see a darker gunmetal type color on the Z.
