Yeah it does leave a lot to be desired - that said, I found this posted and kept it for reference. If anyone finds an actual DIY, please post it (or a link) as I have never seen one.

Actually that page right there explained it all completely to me.. Just follow those exact steps and youll be good.

Put clips on bumper then pop back together. You can't turn the clips back to reinstall rear bumper so twist lock them onto bumper then just pop bumper back on.

Actually when i took my rear off, just got a 8mm or so, and twisted them to unlock so i could take the rear off. Then when put new rear on just got another 8mm or so, and twisted back again to lock. thats if we are thinking of the same thing, which i think we are.
