Default After Hail Damage.....not perfect, suggestions?

Ok, so I wake up in the middle of the night about two months ago to an awful noise outside. I'm from Houston originally so I'm not familiar with this type of BS but soon came to realize it was hailing outside!!! I was like "Oh ****!" So I run outside in a pair of boxer shorts in the middle of golf ***** falling from the sky and quickly move my car to safety, gettin nailed in the head in the process but I didn't care. In the morning I find all kinds of dings on my two week old 2005 SB. So, got it back not too long ago after much hassle and trying to find a reputable place to fix my car. There is only one problem though, repair job is not perfect. After very close examination one can see very small swirl marks on the black paint, kind of hard to describe but in the proper reflection it is visible and kinda makes me sick when I think about it. These marks don't look like swirl marks from a regular buffer that are bug but are fairly small swirls that shine funny in direct sunlight mostly. I would post pics of it but I'm sure you couldn't see it with a camera. If someone wasn't looking for it they probably could not tell but it bugs me all the time. So....Questions....

1. Does anyone have advice on how to fix this stuff??? I thought of a clay bar, or some bad azz wax but I've tried a couple of different waxes and none seem to hold it that well. When it's in the shade you can't tell at all, but in sunlight the marks come out a little more.
2. Should I try to just take it to another place to see if they can buff these out somehow cuz the old place didn't do that great of a job?
3. Is this normal for paintless rapair of hail to see these types of marks on a car? I love my black car but geez....

Any help would be appreciated and if I can do this without having to get a new hood or get it repainted that would be great. I even thought of holding out to buy an 06 and just trade in my 05, cuz I want everything perfect on it, but I know I'd take a HUGE hit, so that's pretty much outta the question. Plus in 08 I heard they are doin twin turbos on the Z so might as well wait till then anyways right if I go that route....Thanks again...

Try the Detailing forum.

Sounds like you need to do a real fine sanding to remove the swirls and get back down to the base paint. I would assume that repair shop repainted your car - or did they just knock out the dents?

A hail storm is right up there in my list of nightmares along with sharing a prison cell with Bubba.

With black cars, you can never have a swirless setup if the car is being daily driven.

However, there is a HUGE degree in what some people consider "swirls" -- this is not to be confused by a really bad polishing job, or someone who cleans their car with a contaminated cloth.

Black cars need special care; its crucial that they are washed and waxed, and cleaned without being scratched. If your wash mit is dirty or you didnt rinse the car properly, it will cause scratches. Using microfiber towels helps a LOT.

After the hail, first step would be to do paintless dent removal to repair the dings.. shouldnt be too bad. From there, you'll want to take your car to a REAL detailer and have them go over the car with several types of cleaners, from compound (if needed) to wax. And from then on, you just need to keep the car clean.

Like I said, its really tough to keep black pristine because the color is very easy to scratch. Its not the black paint that gets scratched, its the clearcoat that dullens and then becomes very visible because of the black surface. Its the same concept with black headlamps, imperfections show a lot more than brighter colored headlamps.

Best of luck,

Well, I know the swirls aren't from me......I know how to clean my car, trust me and this is the 4th brand new car I have owned that has been black. Anyway, it's not the typical swirl marks from a buffer that look like little scratches, these are much finer I think, so maybe there's a better chance of them coming out? I took it to the paintless place, and I guess they tried to do the best they could, so now I guess I'll eventually have to take it to a detailer to do it even better. What would something like that cost (range) to get it professionally cleaned or whatnot without repainting. Thanks again.
