Removing Air Bags?

Does anybody know how to remove the airbags without setting them off? I plan on switching to an aftermarket steering wheel and I already have 5-point racing harnesses so keeping them for safety is no longer an issue.

Download a copy of the factory service manual from http://carfiche.com/manuals003

Look at the section titled "SRS". It has complete instructions on removing the air bag and seat belt pre-tensioner.
