This may have been discussed before, but have any of you had success with changing the gauge bulbs to a different color? I'm not sure whether Z's have yellow bulbs or a yellow film behind the gauges. The former of course will be much easier than the latter.

I had changed my Maxima bulbs from OEM green to deep red, and would like to do the same in the Z. Any thoughts? I haven't seen anyone's pix showing this mod in the hundreds of Z pix I've seen. Pls. share yours if you have done this.

 

Ok, first off the Z is not like many other cars, there are NO BULBS in the interior lighting except for the lights on the roof of the Z where that storage compartment is. All the amber lighting in the Z comes from tiny @$$ LED's. Acree was the first to try to desolder the old leds off and put red ones on and he was successful. I did mine about a month ago and overall it took me about 1 Week to finish the car, mostly b/c I am not very good at soldering leds. It's VERY RISKY though, I shorted out the main cluster and had to pay $700 to get a new one from dealer. It does work but it takes a serious amount of time.
