Default Best way to paint plenum covers?

I'm in the process of taking off the paint that I had previously done on my plenum cover. It was starting to peel and was looking really ugly. Anyone have any instructions on what I should do to get a high gloss finish like the rest of the car? I'm sanding the plenum right now, and plan on using a primer right after. I was playing around with the other engine covers, but I can't seem to get a high gloss finish. I added clear after sanding, priming, and painting. What am I doing wrong? Any tips from the experts?

Since the stock plenum is aluminum you can get it anodized.

that and a lot of people dont understand "paint prep" (sanding and cleaning thoroughly before priming/painting. perhaps its peeling because whoever had it before you did a halfa$$ job.

Getting a real high gloss like the exterior of your car is sorta hard from a rattle can imho. Sand, clean, prime, sand, clean, paint, clear. You might need to do some wet sanding between painting and clearing with a high grit paper. And again after a few coats of clear, then buff/polish real good and you should get a decent shine. Just take you time and wait the amount of times on the can before proceeding to the next step. (between coats and sanding)
