Thumbs up Anyone know the factory door weight?

I am considering going with a custom roll cage and fiberglass or carbon fiber doors with the glass removed! Before I take the plunge, I would like to see what the weight difference would be on the doors and what not. If you have this info, it would be much appreciated

When I was carrying mine around during the install of my LSD-Door kit I would estimate that they are a good 75lbs each if not close to 100lbs. The fact that it is an awkward thing to carry may have made it feel heavier than it really is but you could definitely save some weight there.

I would have weighed them but did not have a good way to without causing some damage.

Thanks man! I am assuming this is with the glass in place and all of the other stuff attached to the door minus the door panel and power window stuff?

Wow that would be awesome as I weighed the new doors I am putting on tomorrow at 16lbs each

That was the whole door, panel and everything. I only needed to remove the panels to take out the the door range limiter thing.

What's up neighbor? I'm in Fairport, for about another month. Stepping on the scale while holding the door is a good idea but, when I was holding it, the only thing I could think of was how bad I wanted to put the thing down. It's heavy!

Rickdogg, you're my hero. Where did these doors come from? I am assuming for 16 lbs they have no reinforcements of any kind like the stock doors, and hence the need for a cage? 2700 lbs.... man, that's top notch.

AIT Racing came out w/ these CF doors.

All you need now are some CF front and rear fenders (along w/ you CF hood, doors and rear window) and you will probably have lightest Z!

Xziteme is correct. AIT made some, however the doors will be under a different name. I hooked up with them since I found that they were making custom fiberglass doors for one of my sponsors' drift car. They are not reinforced at all. I will have pics shortly

My z is gutted and has a rear lexan window so that is my goal! However, I am going to paint most of the car with some CF showing just for the bling LOL

You can follow my plans for my car in my favorite thread:

what on earth would bring you to fairport for a month? of course, not that i can talk - half of my (business) time is spent out in Whitefish MT...

rick, i'm very jealous - i actually just took off and sold a set of Fiberglass doors from my 951 due to safety/security concerns (mainly: i wanted windows because of where the car was parked/stored). *sniffles* i miss 'em tho....

I've lived in Fairport for a few years now, I'm moving back to California in about a month. Do you want to buy a TownHouse in Fairport?

Im probably going to guess that the weight you loose on the CF doors will be more than made up for on the roll cage..
