Default I"M SCREWED?

ok,.now I see(the post) where I thought I was supposed to have a damn D2R bulb!!!!! DAMNIT!!! I got a Phattyass Phillips HID kit and I've got D2R bulbs!
So I'm Screwed,..unless I can just buy new H7's to put in there I'll be ok,..but either way.I'm dying to know how the install goes DAYTONA---the back of the headlight is not open,.and when I went to hook mine up,...the HUGE wire that runs from the Ballast to the Bulb has nowhere to go---???What do you do w/ it,..if you leave off the Rear CIRCLE thing that unscrews to get the bulb out, more moisture will get in there-(as if we all don't have enough fog in our lights to begin w/)??? I'm SO LOSt!!!! HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the stock 350 HID color,..I like Purpleish color,..not so much blue but Audi/BMW,.byt then again that has to do more w/ the Lights themselves then the bulb--the bulb isn't everything----~

*AND* the S2000 has a like 4200K---and its the best HID's EVER!! except you gota love those "ANGEL EYES"

ANYONE,..what can I do about my install and my bulbs(d2r,..can I just plug a H7 bulb in and be done??

OK, this was definitely worth it. I thought the stock halogen lighting system on the Z was very good, but this is a big improvement still. I guess the most obvious difference was the clarity; it's much easier to see things in the field of view. I was noticing sticks & twigs on the road heading to the turnpike. I can at least see the potholes now.

Another thing I learned; when you're driving, you're not looking at what's right in front of you, you're looking just beyond the area lit by the beams.

Anyway, as for color, it's just fine; it's a bright (Audi-ish) blue, as you can see, but still looks stock. The fake bulbs look more like someone driving around with their high beams on. I'd actually like to see how this compares to the stock HID system if anyone wants to meet up.

Damned if I can tell where the wires are. You'll see this underhood pic doesn't really show much. I can't even figure out which wires go to the bulbs. I think maybe they had to go through the fenderwell to access the lights. I know I used the DH7 kit for my base model. All other models have a 9006 bulb for their low beams. So the H7 should work for you if you have the base model.

The HID bulb simply replaces the factory bulb, and instead of immediately being connect to the battery, it's first connected to a ballast, which is then connected to the battery and grounded. Also, for all who want HID, since the Z came with halogen bulbs, that means it doesn not have the HID reflectors in the headlight housing, thus, ALL of the light is now being projected, which WILL blind other cars, and just may attract cops. Just FYI

Default HID HOUSING???

well,.I would thinik that all the Z's headlights we're HID housing headlamps,..just w/o the HID's,....

Thanx for the info,..but the *BIG* question is what happens to that CIrcle thing that is to be unscrewed to get to the Bulb,..the Wire from the Bulb is so big-there is nowhere for it to be run,..unless you leave the Circle thing off??
I don't think thats right???

Daytonas lights looked Perfect!!!
Thats all I want but need to know if I'm gonna have to take apart the whole headlamp to run the HID wiring through where the Halogen wiring goes that has a little Hook-up already,..like I said,.mine plugged right up,.but there was no where to run the bulb wire through thge Circle plastic thing,..anyone who has a NON-BASE model have pic's of their stock HID wiring,..I gotta see it to know what to do,..DAYTONA--yours would be perfect if I could see behind your light!!!

BUT THANX GUYS!!!!

If you don't mind me asking...How are your HIDs holding up? Is the color the same? Im asking because I was thinking about getting some HIDs for my base model, and was interested in the vision kit. Also, did you install the kit yourself, or did you have it professionally installed, if so, how much was it?

Not sure if yoiuy were asking me--but that First kit i bought(This is a very old thread)was********--not even the right HID kit @ all--

I now have Mr.Jungs' kit which was a snap to install--the first kit i had's wire was like as thck as my middle finger and a Bulb hook-up parts was even bogger so there no way those bulbs would have ever even plugged up!
SO the Mr.Jungs'(and most kits for that matter)have wire(s) instead of a Wire that you can drill(1/4 inch hole into the back of that Plastic peice I was talking about in the earlier threads to run them through--then the bacing on the bulb is made JSUT LIKE a Halogen H7 bulb,.so its sits exactly how it should in the housing--next you just plug them up(everywire has a hook up--3 total)-(1 to the light harness-others connect to the kit) and thats it!

one of my MR.Jung bulbs lost its color and I got a new one--but now the new one is perfect and what I thought was the good one looks like **** now!! So I will get *one more bulb* and if it happens again--I will get my money back----he offers a 18mth warranty @ no cost--so now I'm waiting on another bulb and thats the end of MR.Jungs kits for me--I will then get a 6000K kit from 300zxstore.com--they look like how the Mr.Jung's kits hook uo(VERY EASY) and the bulb looks to fit the same!

this was in case you we're talking to me?i will try to get a sticky posted to show all BASE owners how to install HID's once I end up buying a new HID kit after this Mr.Jungs!!

I would like to get the Phillips Ultinon's and hopefully hook them up to my 7000K ballasts and save the trouble of sending my kit back!

Thanks!

They're holding up just fine; haven't had any problems yet.

I'm sorry with wiring, so I took it to Tweeter to have it installed. It takes a while since you have remove the wheel wells to get at the lamps. I had them install the LED sidemarkers too, so it set me back $150, which I thought was too much.

In my experience w/ my kit--its much eaiser to take off the front bumper and remove the whole headlight instead of takeing the wheels off(which you might damage them??) and unscrewing the Fenderweel screws!!9-10boltson the bottom side of bumper/8push pins in the top of bumper & 1bolt in each fenderwell---only 3 bolts to the head light and unconnect the harness @ the bottom of the light and your done!
Wiring is a snap if you have a plug'n play kit---(which most are these days)
All you do is plug where it tells you--actually no wiring @ all or too much skill involved--main part is removal of bumper and headlight--then drill hole in plastic circle--> the run bulb and rest of wires through the hole(use suction to seal it to the Cricle thing--- and snap down the bulb how the stock bulb does and your done--turn em on and enjoy!
took about 20-30mins w/ bumper removal,..I can take my front bumper&headlights off in like 8-10 mins I've taken it off somuch!!!

Mr.Jungs ballasts are GREAT(HELLA)--but he makes his bulbs awesome(makes them w/ a regular halogen backing) and I guess the bulbs just loses color--Its weird,.so I might salvage the ballasts and use the Phillips ultinon's instead--they are like $200 for just the bulbs and are the best Bulb's I EVER SEEN!!!

hopefully sticky will be up soon,.I'm workin on it if they post it??

MODS?? is it possible?
