Finally Done, CF hatch & CF Vented Front Fender *56k pwn3d*
I guess better late than never eh?
well this took well over a year to complete.. due to some laziness factor on Fiberimages' part.. but they're here, and boy, im glad to finally get them!!
Here are some weight stats.
These are wet lay CF, not dry.. they can make dry upon request, it just costs more... they can also do these molds in Fiberglass upon request...
Stock Fender weight: 8.5 lb, +/- 0.5 lb error
New, CF fender: 4.0, +/- 0.5 lb error
i think i recall Fiberimages weighing the stock hatch w/o glass: ~56 pounds
New CF/Fiberglass reinforced Hatch (i had them put fiberglass in it, because i wanted to mount a wing eventually and i didnt want it to flex as much): 21.0 pounds. :/ a little heavier than i would have liked it.. but its still half of what it used to be.. I think James Chen/Axis drift car had the hatch to around 8pounds with no reinforcements..
for comparison, i believe the Varis Hatch with reinforced fiberglass is approximately 16 pounds. i dont know off hand the Seibon hatch weight.. maybe rick dogg could chime in..
on to the images..
everything
Fenders:
Hatch:
whew.. ok. i'll be having my fenders painted blue, keeping the flat portion up top CF, and the Vent CF, and i'll be painting the hatch, probably a fade like they did the varis hatch..
yay..

Perfect match w/ the salad bar wing. Now serving #16 in line please.
Really though, how much less does your car weigh w/ the carbon fiber parts. Does this translate to a real difference in acceleration?
Do you worry about the structural integrity of your car if you were to get in an accident. Nissan designed many parts on this car to fold certain ways, not crack like CF will.

i will probably be looking into a Lexan window replacement to optimize the weight savings... hopefully the lexan will weigh ~12-15 pounds...
if i ditch my salad bar, i'll be cutting out the underside fiberglass and attaching the hatch via pins... decisions decisions... i was leaning toward the Type E replica wing that EvoR has.. we'll see... or just buying that center portion and rigging just an aluminum base to attach the sides. sorta like how the carrera Gt wing pops out..

the main reason i put the hole there was to reduce the amount of air drag the front wheels generate and give an exit for the air to go.. i will cut the existing fender liner to 'match' my vents and place a grill there, hopefully reducing the amount of potential rock strikes to my door.
