Default Debadging: cleaning up the mess?

I just took off the 350Z badge and used Goof-Off to get rid of the adhesive and washed the car. However, the paint in that area is still somewhat dirty-dull, as not all the adhesive was removed. What should i use to get it absolutely, perfectly clean?

Also, how do i take off the Nissan badge? I tried fish line, but it broke. Twice. Do i have to use a fan or something? Or pour some Goof-Off on it?

Finally, my plan is to hide the two holes from the Nissan emblem using the "Z" from the 350Z badge. Do i just super-glue it?

The goo-off should get all the residue off thats left behind, then polish and wax the area if it appears dull.

I dont think that Z will be big enough to cover both the holes, but I might be wrong, use double sided tape, not super glue.

Isopropyl alcohol is safe for clear coat. And so is a good cleaner-wax such as Prestone. If you use a cleaner-wax, wipe the area with isopropyl alcohol before gluing.

By the way there is a difference between “Goo Gone” and Goof Off” (I think). “Go Gone is a petroleum base and safe for clearcoat.

Fishing line broke? Dang. How about 50 pound test line? Or try a hair blower.

BTW if you install the “Z” make sure its right side up.

Alcohol helped a little, but not fully. The area is still dull, has some smudges and a faint outline of the letters. What do i do? I couldn't have damaged the clear coat, could i? I read a bunch of posts about goof-off being safe.

I used a product available at most auto part stores that is for emblem and bumper sticker removal. It got all the residue off, no problem. Just tell the sales guys at the store what you want and they will point you to the product.

As for any dullness, I used Turtle Wax swirl and scratch remover to make sure any outlines where removed and then used a good wax to finish off.

Perfect!
