Just ordered a set of clear side markers for my Brickyard Z.

For those who have made this change, how difficult is it to pop the amber lens out and put the clear ones in?

 

you can do it without bumper removal, but the right side is a little hard, still only about an hour job.

 

yeah you dont have to remove the bumper or the tires. Your just going to need one of these:

Offset Screwdriver (like $2.00 at home depot)


About an hour doing the passenger side. The driver side takes only 5 mins.

I had good luck with a screw driver bit, from a changeable screwdriver, and a box end quarter inch wrench. Removing the wheels makes it a little easier as well.

 

Hmm... removing the wheels should not be a problem, I have a 2 1/2 -ton floor jack (hey.. ya never know when may have to lift a whole car off the ground) and jack stands in the garage.

And I've got the full range of shop tools (including the dual bend screwdriver).

Can you see where the lens is mounted once the car is elevated and/or the wheels are off?

Does this change require the removal of any wheel well components to get to the lenses?

A brief step-by-step would be helpful from someone who has already made the change.

The inner fender liner is two piece, front and back. Use a phillips screw driver to remove only the screws for the front liner. There are also several pop in plastic rivets. Use a small flat blade to pry up the center part and pull out. Once the liner is removed its very easy to remove the drivers side.

Unfortunately the passenger side has the winshield washer fluid bottle in the way. The bottom screw is easy to get out. The top one is the one that is hard to get to. I had to do it by feel. Couldn't find the correct position to see and work at the same time in the cramped space.

Any one with a service manual can show the exact location of the crews and plastic rivets. I don't have a one, but had the page scanned and emailed to my home computer. You don't need it once you understand that the liner is two pieces. Its easy to tell what to remove.
