Heres a couple pics someone on here posted a while back of the phillips 6000k bulbs

at startup:

After warmed up:

I dont know if you have ever seen the 12000k in person, but they are very purple and the light output is severely diminished over stock. The 6000k bulbs also put out less total light than the stock bulbs, but not by a whole lot. It seems to be the best trade off of light and color IMO.

FYI, it seems the group buy got its 10 people and we have begun paying. The vendor said he would continue to take orders though.

all stock HID headlight systems are 4300K or something close to it but nothing close to 60000K

Yup, stock is 4300k. If they made 60000k bulbs I would buy them just for the novelty factor

I always thought that Philips ONLY produced the 4300k bulbs, and that any other kelvin rating were not genuine Philips bulbs. There was a website I came across a while back that actually told you what to look for with the bulbs to see if they were genuine Philips. Sure enough the "Philips" bulbs that I came across were not legit Philips bulbs.

After reading up on it, i've decided to go wiith the 6,000k even though im still kinda interested in the 8,000k but i couldnt find a quality bulb at that kelvin rating. I'll sign up after work....i'd rather go with the philips bulbs than risk buying something less than quality.

Also, when i was searching, i noticed that another member had the 6,000k hid bulbs but also swapped out his parking lights and it gave the hid's a more blueish tint.

I'm leaning towards the 6000k's on gohid.com myself. They are currently on sale, and the payment method (I don't do paypal) and shipment looks safe, quick, and easy.

Anyone know if that is a quality unit or something to be avoided? I hear much talk that the Philip's 6000k is not a true Philips. Can anyone shed any "light" on that?

Have any of you guys seen this on ebay? I don't know how to tell a real Philips hid from any other bulb, but this is a really good price.

You need to look around when it comes to aftermarket HID kits. Some are really good and some are utter crap. Naturally, with most electronics, you get what you pay for.

A majority of his feedbacks are from buyers that purchased HID bulbs from him. Whether they are true Philips bulbs or fakes I do not know.

you do know that everyone starts out with a Zero feedback on ebay, he does have a 100% rating. So does anyone know how to tell a real philips from any other hid bulb?

i had the Philips Ultinon 6000Ks from xenondepot.com, with those really cool slimline philips ballasts

they were ok, the light purple color does look good on the road, but ultimately purple against black tarmac doesnt light up as well as 4300K yellow on black tarmac

it was a trade-off.....until i swapped them out and fitted a Raybrig 6000K HID kit from Japan. These are even brighter than all our oem xenon'd cars!!!! Amazing output and intensity, and if i understand the directions properly, they use the new D3S globes which are 30% brighter than the older D2S generation. Color is basically a pure white with a very light purple tinge

im now going to buy 4300K H1 globes from xenondepot.com and use the 6000K wiring/ballasts to put them in the high beam

has anyone put a HID kit in the highbeams? The opening for the H1 globes looks very tight, curious as to whether a xenon globe with return wire will actually poke through into the headlight

Is the raybrig HID kit just a bulb replacement or do I have to do a retrofit?

Raybrig sell both replacement globes and HID kits for halogen cars. But im not sure where you'd get them from in the US as they are from Japan

The color temperature refers to the light that is output by the bulb. 4300K is the color temperature that is the closes to the natural light given off by the sun. The higher you go the more blue and purple tints you get from the bulb. the 6000K give a little bit of a blueish tint to the light without losing too much light output, but the higher up the scale you go the more output you will lose.

The flickering and effects that other people have mentioned refer to the cutoff shild in the projector itself. Since the 05' and previous model Z's are fitted with a projector/reflector you can't get as clean a cutoff as you can with full projector lighting systems. Another limitation is that you cannot get the color effects that you can with a full projector system since light is also reflected.

If you have a full projector as in the 06' model you can bend or manipulate the metal cutoff shield in order to get different color effects at the cutoff line.

I don't like the flickering nor do I care for "color changing" or whatever. I am interested only in a high quality 6000k replacement for my OEM HID.

Does anyone know anything about the quality of the units sold by goHID.com? They seem to be easy to deal with, rather than waiting on a group buy.

Thanks for the help.

The group buy from up above has already shipped out their lights. I dont know if they are still taking orders, I would ask, $210 is pretty cheap
