I heard you lose your insurance coverage or something if you have an airbag from factory and you replace the steering wheel with one that doesn't have the airbag? Is this true? Any insurance agents here?

What about this one, does it keep the air bag?

If you haven't done it before, yes its a pain and if you dont know what you're doing you might accidentally deploy the airbag

actually it is not hard at all...literally takes about 15 minutes, and so long as you disconnect the battery for 15 minutes, and then move to the airbag removal, there is no chance for deployment (per factory manual)

Depends on what type of insurance. My State Farm rep specifically told me that it would not affect my coverage. I would get it in writing if you actually do it though.

Finally got around to taking a better picture of my JDM Momo factory option steering wheel. It did come with it's own airbag.

It looks almost identical to the factory wheel. Looks like all you are doing is losing the cruise control.

Anyone2U, have you replaced your speaker grills? If so, with what?

The steering wheel was purchased by a friend of mine while he was over in Japan doing work with Nissan/Infiniti back in 2004. Since that time I guess they made it pretty tough to import and then I believe they stopped production of it all together. Since my car started out as a Base, I didn't have any of the controls on the steering wheel anyway, so no problem with CC.

The speaker grills were custom fabricated by Boston Acoustics and the silver ring matches the other interior silver dead on. In addition they built an enclosure in the doors and realigned the speaker in the door panel as the factory speaker alignment is horrible. I like them but I will more than likely end up going with some of the speaker pods (probably red to keep the "theme" going) that Nazar at WickedCAS.com sells. Sorry OT.

NOt really at the bottom of my list. Was just to lazy to type so instead I used those symbls...pretty much started from momo to this to that to nardi. Now my nardi is setting on a display case.

Your friend should have invested in about 20 of those steering wheels he could have sold them all, nice interior BTW.

No joke! And at the same time I wish I had bought more than 1 of the Red Z from Tommy K that's no longer available as well!

BTW, below is a picture of the other JDM Momo factory option steering wheel that was offered at the same time I got mine. Very similar to the one available at Z1 Performance but all black. My friend compared the two steering wheels in a 350Z at the dealership where he bought mine and felt the "Evo" one (the one I have) went better with the interior scheme.
