Smile Cleared out the front

I spent today installing clear headlight reflector strips from ricks s2k and clear reflector led's for the bumper modified by ARES with 30 Led's. I (foolishly) thought I would also get to some of my audio install but holy crap these headlights took awhile (that and my nismo wing showed up today so I ran it up to the bodyshop).

Anyway, the whole thing looks so amazing. I didn't get any good daytime pics as I was just wrapping things up at dark but I couldn't be happier. The Daytona Blue with the cleared front rocks. The led's are awesome too. I had a set from Ares on my last z but sold them when I totalled. I was happy to see him still making them.

Anyway, here was a parts list:
Clear reflector strip from ricks signature customs
30 LED clear reflectors from ARES
2 silver coated turn signal bulbs (ebay - not sure if i'm satisifed with light output yet)
4 silver coated hyperwhite bulbs (ebay)

The bumper reflectors were wired to the parking lights and it looks mean as hell with just that on. =) OEM HID's ruin the party when they warm up haha.

Anyway, here's some pics.

stock: (like you've never seen it before...)

taking off the bumper and headlights wasn't the end of the world

this part scared the crap out of me. I wanted to leave the door open and watch like a little girl for something to start melting so I could yank it. It turns out it wouldn't heat enough. Finally I grew some ***** and took out the wet cardboard, put the headlights right side up on a cooking sheet and closed the door. 225 for 12 minutes worked like a charm (hey! just like the directions say! )

Thanks, I actually thought of something bugging me. I put black silicon around the headlight to try to seal out water and although you can't see it when the hood's closed, when the hood is open it looks like ****. I'm going to have to play.

I have the same problem and still didn't get a good seal.

We ran into this same problem when doing this on MKIV Supras. It is almost impossible to reseal the headlights enough to prevent condensation. So I guess you have to decide what's worse, having the orange strip OR having your headlights fog up on a regular basis.

I blacked out my first set and destroyed them with condensation costing me 900 to rectify, second time I used oven to pull them apart, and heat gun and lots of time to reseal, I also used a very strong compound the second time as there is not enough of the original material to seal and silicone flakes off over time. I was able to to do a great job second time around with this method, but took a full weekend. Also I too had the looking like crap problem first time around, second time looked good, with heat gun you can mold it a lot easier.

well, knock on wood, the lights have passed a car wash/hose test as well as two rains (one very heavy). No condensation!
