Default Aftermarket Shift *****

What is everyone's oppinion on this topic? Is there a practical use to aftermarket shift ***** or are they simply a cosmetic piece?

Do differant types of ***** actually benefit in racing situations IE road racing?

What's the "best" **** out there for this kind of driving?

Different shift ***** are more for the feel I would say. The weighting and feel are both important but it's more a cosmetic or feel thing I think.

I agree with you.

What situations do you use a heavy **** and when do you want to use a lighter ****?

I love my Nismo ball shift ****..its light, so you need more mmph in the throw, BUT, the throw is a bit shorter, so you can really shift a bit faster. Plus it looks clean.

I didn't want to go the typical GT (rubber or Ti) route, hence the BB.

I recently ordered a ARC ball type shift ****. Its the nicest looking one in my opinion. Heres a pic of what they look like. It was on backorder for 3 weeks so I got 1 week of waiting left.

I don't really dig heavier ones..I dont know. I also get freaked out about unneeded stress on the tranny..i mean really, considering the quality of our trannies, do we really need anymore stress on them?!

Well, I combined mine with the Rogue Short Shifter (revised version) + Stillen Engine Dampener & I can honestly say that shifting feels 10x better than the OEM setup. Shifting feels very precise & there is no question what gear I'm in. I have an 03 & I haven't had any tranny or grinding problems yet. *knocks on wood*

But I agree. This is very subjective on how each individual wants their shifter to feel.

Yea, certainly is. I've heard horror stories of combining the Nismo ball with a short shifter, the horror being it being TOO short, so I think i'll stick with the stock setup with the ball.

Definitely a benefit with the right aftermarket ****.

The OEM was a little too clunky and cumbersome. Sometimes I had to think a little bit before I down-shifted or skip gears. My aftermarket feels a little more precise as far as the direction of the **** going in to each gate.

I don't follow, how does it feel when you shift with the Nismo VS OEM?
