Default 06 Gauge Cluster Swap?

I have an 04 Touring Redline BEAUTY (I couldn't resist), and I was wondering if anyone knows if the new 06 gauge cluster can be used in an 04. Mine is looking a little rough, with minor micro scratches, and thought I would look into replacing it. And I love the way the new cluster looks, with the silver outline around the outside of the gauges.

I know if it is compatible, it probably won't be cheap, but I was wondering anyway. lol

Thanks!

Mark

Have you looked into swapping it with the NISMO cluster? Not cheap either ($800 I think?) But it sure looks nice!

You can probably purchase the plastic lens assembly. It's not that difficult to replace since they're clipped on.

Yes the mileage would change to reflect that of the new cluster.

Which is also illegal I'm pretty sure. Same thing as rolling back the miles on the odometer of an old car. Isn't that fraud of some sort?

Man, that's SCARY!!!!!!

I talked to the parts guyZ over at Performance and they said the 06 cluster has a different redline anyway, because of the Rev-Up motors. Oh well.

It's not illegal to change your cluster ,as long as you report the correct (Actual mileage) when you sell, transfer, or register the vehicle. If you dont report the actual mileage, then yes..its fraud.

Any pics of this Nismo cluster?

this is old technology man!
the E46 BMW i had had a back up mileage counter. when u hook up a cluster with a diff mileage, a FAULT light will be flagged...... till u get it reset by synchronising the mileage.
