Part#1 01-31-03
I know that there is a person or 2 on this board that has had the problem with some of the stitching on there cloth seats. I have the same problem, along with a little spot on my hood where it looks like the clear coat has come up. I took the car to the dealer they looked at it and filed a report with NNA. After trying to find out what was happening with these issues for 3 days, and every day been told there would be a call back, I finally got someone on the phone. In regards to the seat they told me that the problem was caused by me, and that it would not be fixed. The second issue, about the clear coat, they told me that it could have been acid rain and again that they are not responsible. I told them that the car is always in a garage, and is not driven in the rain. Again, in short, they said that it is my fault and that they are not going to do anything about it. Every Z car that I have had I treat like it is my child, and needless to say I am very very mad. I feel like these guys want to take no responsibility for their product. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to help get this problem fixed or how I could go about speaking with someone other than the little customer service person on the end of the phone, who does nothing but read from a computer screen? If I did this to my car then I would take the blame for it and get it fixed, but for NNA to put this off on me as if it were my fault is just plain wrong.
Part #2 02-04-03
I made a manger call me back, and then this is what i was told by them. The report that was written up by the dealership was filled with inaccuracies ie, "holes in the seat", while there are no holes, only areas where the stitching is coming undone. They also stated that a Nissan rep came by and looked at my car while it was at the dealership. The dealership brought me into the garage area to discuss the problems with me at which time I did not see ANY Nissan rep anywhere. The dealership told me that they do see a problem and that they would have to probally replace or recover the seats. NNA says their rep and the dealership sent in the report, and they did not tell me what the were sending in or what they were reporting, just that they were sending in a report and it should not be a problem. It's basically their word word against mine, and NNA is claiming that the stitching is coming undone is due to my misuse. They told me there is no need for anyone else to look at it, no need for me to call them anymore, and that there is no one else for me to talk to regarding the issue, that the issue was closed in their eyes. NNA is standing behind the dealership.
Is there anyone else out there having an issue with their seat stitching coming undone and being told that it is their fault and NNA will not fix?? Please let me know if you are having this problem so possibly we can all pool our resources together (and maybe file a class action suit or something?) . NNA should rightfully recognize this as a known issue if there are alot of us out there having the same problem.

I have the business card of the guy from NNA that came to look at my transmission problems. His title is Manager of Engineering Investigations. He seemed very interested in the problems I was having with my Z. I have to locate the card, it is somewhere at home so I will PM you with the # as soon as I can find it. Probably tomorrow since my home computer is busted....
