Default (Right) Armrest.

One of the pik-nits I have with the Zzzz is an armrest for the right arm. Console is just to low. A couple weeks back I came across a piece of packaging styrafoam that looked about right....3" X 5" X 8". I had my wife cover it in a piece of material for a trial run. Works great....except I need to try some double sided tape to hold it in place for up/down shifting.

Anyway, we had a professional upholster come by today to measure up a chair for new materials. I asked him to look at the "armrest". He is going to make a 3 (high) x 5 x 10 inch armrest finished in leather.

Don't know if the armrest deficiency bugs anyone else but here is a solution. The 3" height is about perfect for the arm and still not be to high for shifting.

any picture? doesnt it inhibit shifting and/or the parking brake? perhaps the heated seat switches too? just curious if your model is ok with all these things or maybe you dont have heated seats, or have an automatic.

let us know how it turns out!

Default armrest

Good idea. I have actually been toying with the idea of upholstering the center console anyway. I hate the chintzy plastic.
Please post picks when you get this done. It would be appreciated!

Will post pics when I get it, guys.

ares, no, the armrest will not interfer with gearshift (I have 6spd), brake or heater switches. It lays over the ashtray & emergency button and next to the emerg.brake. If anything I will have to move it to open the lid to the drink holders.

As for shifting I usually raise my arm slightly when shifting but can shift quite easily with arm on the rest.

The only issue is if I can find a way to keep it from sliding around.
I'm going to give double sided mounting tape a shot.
