Vertical Door Problems
Those of you who think lambo doors are gay will have fun reading this.
When I got mine installed in 6/04 they lined up fine and worked like a charm. I loved them.
Now, nearly 2 years later, they are both mis-aligned. Also, the gas strut on the drivers side literaly broke where the polished rod turned into a threaded stud. The breakage resulted in some minor fendor denting.
I have some choices to make here:
Replace the broken gas strut and have the hinges re-aligned (this is more complicated than you might think) ... or
Return to stock hinges.
Has anyone been through this?
What did you do?
Are you happy with it?

Mine are the Vertical Door brand.
I'd like to mention too that the Vertical Door hinge adjustment limitations required that we widen the fendor to hood gap (by adjusting the fendors out) by about 1/8 inch.
Also, the gaps in front and rear of the doors were not equal. There was not enough adjustment available from these hinges.
Although the finished results were acceptable, all the body pieces and gaps were NOT perfect.

I have the Vertical door kit also. My driver's door shock gave out right after the warranty went out (6 months). I looked into getting a new shock from Vertical Doors Inc. but the price was an outrageous $200!! I went on E-bay and pick up two 800psi shocks for $50. So far so good (3 months) But I would recommend getting the truck shocks since our doors are so damn heavy. Even with the 800psi., the door doesn't just spring up. To answer your question whether to keep them or not....it depends if you do the work it won't be that bad cost wise. If you pay someone, then we are talking some cash.
