My fraction that was completed would be about the size of a hand with 100grit to start off with
Take a good look at your plenum and feel it's rough texture, now imagine the work needed to get the metal smooth enough to create reflection just by sanding before adding any polishing compound/paste to bring out the miror like shine.
Not trying to discourage anyone but warning people about how hard it will be without the professional tools needed
