I was just asking if your experience was with "authentic" or "replica".

Personally...Replica & you already pointed out the fitment issues with some authentic Veilside hoods. Just wanted to point out those areas since (technically) we are going to build a replica of the Do-Luck hood (which I'm sure the original fits well), but it doesn't necessarily mean the mold will. Know what I mean? Just voicing my concerns cause I already had a bad experience with a custom type hood. I just want to make sure this bad boy comes out pefect . I figure the more feedback you get, the better the overall product will be

I love the du-luck hood with the nismo vents. I may have missed this in the last 5 pages, but is there a timeline set for when we could get the hood?

I know exactly what you mean. Any possible issues we need to discuss. I personally have no experience with any aftermarket hoods, authentic or replica. Only what I've "heard" or read from others. You're exactly right with your last sentence.

I'm sure it'll be something similiar to Tommy's group buy on the Nismo V2 bumper. Around 2 months or so turnaround. He needs to buy the authentic, send off to manufacturer to make mold, make product, ship, etc...... It will take a little time to do all this.

time line are as follow:

amount of time to order the hood+1month molding process for option 1, 2,3,4 + 1 month for production for option 1 and 2.

For option 3 and and 4 might take a little longer since we have to do custom work to the mold for the nismo vents, probably another month or so could be faster.

Plus another 1 month to get to your door.

Production time and shipping is about 2.5-3 month period + time takes to get the hood.

Tommy, just an FYI, I should of told you sooner. You may want to check into the hood now to find out availability. Do-Luck supposedly has 3 containers that arrived with 350Z product about 6 weeks ago. They still haven't shipped anything out to their distributors.

I should know, I've been waiting about 7 months for the WideBody kit.

I couldn't even begin to tell you when another shipment would arrive.

+1....these were my concerns as well. Based on some further research of punksterz work, I'm looking forward to a bad a$$ well fitting hood.

Oh boy, it could be a while. Friggin' Do-Luck is brutal on importing. May want to consider getting some sort of direct ship method (extra $$) and avoid the "container in customs fiasco." This is what I did with my Power Enterprise wing; had it within 4 weeks. It was shipped direct to Miami and within a couple days (very short Customs delay) was on a truck to Orlando. Just an idea, if it's an option.

If you use a Nissan OEM bonnet and cut the vents there are no fitment issues whatsoever

Bonnet = Hood? What did you use to cut the hood and did it damage the paint?

Yes, buy you don't get the sick look of the raised center of the Do-Luck.

Yes, bonnet = hood. I would expect he needed to do a new repaint of the hood.

I Agree. That raised hood is Bad A$$. So like you said before, the hood is rasied and vented in the back like a cowl induction right.

Yes, it's raised in the rear to allow engine bay temps to exit, per Do-Luck. I've just been unable to find ANY picture showing the rear of the hood whether it's installed or uninstalled on a car. I mean not even one d@mn pic.

If someone has one, please post it up.

I might have to order directly from Japan to make this process a little faster if we do end up doing this project.

You may also wanna consider getting hold of one of our members in japan. I know that some of our military members stationed in Japan can bypass some of that customs crap by shipping from their APO address. Just a thought.

NOTE: Air Force guys are the best at this considering thay have flights going back and forth all the time between Japan and the states. That's what we use to do when we wanted to ship things from anywhere overseas back to the states.
