Default How much paint for a respray?

Like in the title, i'm looking a spraying the car a pearl blue, and i was wondering how much paint is needed to give the car 3 coats of paint. I know i will have to use the equivalent amount for primers, and clear coats, but just as a guideline to how much would give the car 3 coats. Thanks!!

First thing you want to do is talk with whoever is painting the car and figure out is what brand of paint they will be spraying on the car, since each brand lays down differently, also some painters are very effectient and some... not so much.

My current painter sprays DuPont and he's a great painter but he uses a lot of material, the paint looks deep and clean but it alwasy costs a little more.

When I did a color change about 2 years ago I got 1gallon and 2 quarts of color and 2 gallons of the BEST clear I could find.... the paint store will help you with the reducer, hardener and so on...

We resprayed my widebody 240 this past year pearl white and used a llittle over 3/4 of a gallon of white just going over the car and the new body panels...

Hope this helps...

WOW!!! House of kolor?!!! That's some expensive paint.

1 gallon should be MORE than enough to cover a whole car. You have to figure that the ratio is probably at least 2:1 (maybe 4:1), so you'll actually have 1.5 gallons with the reducer mixed-in.

Hmm....after looking at the prices, HOK isn't really that expensive. A gallon of thier black paint is only $154, while the Glasurit 55 (what I use) is over $300. So, I guess they aren't that bad.

A gallon will more than be enough to shoot the car, even more than once, I hope your an experienced painter because pearl is not easy to do.

So i´ve been told. I´ve been doing a bit a practice on small parts, but i have done quite a bit of solid colour spraying on yachts. I´ve been told that the most important part is to not stop at joints, but to try to keep spraying the whole length of the car. Stick to this and i should be OK.
