I can't believe that Top Secret/Bullet Proof charges so much for these! I doubt it costs $100 for them to export them from japan to the US.

Thought you had a source of CF aerocatches.

I have had mine (for months) and am getting ready to install them, did you angle them the way you did because of a "flusher" fit? Any gap problems due to the angle? Thank you.

I do have some latches coming in CF soon.

I installed the pins in the two holes on both sides of the fiberglass mounting brace under the hood by making the holes slightly bigger. I marked the pins with some paint and lowered the hood so that it made a mark. I then tried my best to drill straight up from the paint mark.

I thought that there would be some gaping issues with the way the hood curves but the latches do "hug" the hood so that it looks flush. It is kind of a stressful project but I'm happy that I did it. I didn't do the best cutting underneath or on top (no one sees underneath and on top the errors are hidden) but it looks good and so far they are functional.

I would think a body shop would have no problems installing these. From my experiences, I don't see what the big deal is. This should be a rather simple project for them to do.

Thanks for the info. I think the body shops do not want to do it because a slip with the cutting on the carbon fiber can ruin the hood, they prob. don't think it is worth it.

I can understand them being worried about damaging a CF hood, but at the same time I would also think that for someone who has had experience with body work shouldn't slip. I slipped a few times but I taped the area around the hole that I made with blue painters tape to minimize any damage.

Look at the shops that are brave enough to cut a *huge* hole in a 350Z's roof to install a sun roof now that's crazy! I was quoted $800 to have a sunroof installed (that included the cost of the sunroof and installation) but no one would install hood latches for less than $600. Maybe it's just as soon as they see you have a CF hood they want to stick it to ya...

These are really nice. Too bad I installed the Sparco ones already. These hood pins probably wouldn't cover the existing holes the Sparco ones made, will it?

Actually they should hide the hole made the sparco pins very nicely.

Default CF hood pins

koolzero, why is it that you charge almost double when you get the carbon fiber overlay instead regular black one. Come on, hood up rest of CF drivers. If you can get the price down in reasonable range then I think you will get 3 times of business compares to your $180 marke up.

These look great and Koolzero your car looks bad a$$. Just curious though and it just maybe cause these CF but the hood pins don't look like they flow well w/ the rest of the creases and layout of the hood. Can they be mounted at more of an angle to match the line where the headlight and hood meet?

Because it cost more money to have them overlayed (carbon fiber materials + labor). Some places are selling them just plain black plastic for $170!

OH yeah you can definitely install them so they line up straighter with the hood and the lights, I just wasn't paying close enough attention and this is how they turned out...
