Caution LED light users
It would seem that one of the biggest vendors of LED lights is selling stuff that is beyond second rate. My car is 16 months old and has all of 2200 miles on it. It sits in the garage and goes for a ride once a week, mostly during daylight hours so I'm not even using my lights often.
So far I've had my overhead festoon light go completely - it started flashing on and off rapidly and then just gave up completely. The vendor said what are you talking about, you're the only one complaining.
Tonight I noticed that one of my tag lights is out. I pulled the thing out and checked it out. When it turns on it stays lit for about 30 seconds with 3 of the 6 LED's and then just dims down to nearly nothing. Popping the other side open I find two of the six LEDs dead on that side.
I look at the two small lights in the headlights and they two are bad with each of them showing just three of the six LED's working. Those I would almost expect to go bad due to the heat but that doesn't explain the festoon light in the cabin nor the tag lights all with similar problems.
For those of you counting that five lights dead in about 20 hours worth of use. I highly recommend against LED lights and will be swapping mine back to normal as I get the chance. I'm not willing to spend a dollar an hour on LED's and then risk the ticket or traffic stop for a light that's out. I don't need to go looking for a reason for a traffic stop.
Anyone want to buy some half-*** LED lights cheap?

In theory, LED lightbulbs should last for years......
My headlamp (BlackDiamond) has a row of 7 lights... I`ve been using it for 5 years now, and havent had to replace a single LED....

i bought some festoons on ebay from jpwarden i think the name is. they worked fine for like a week then it started doing that . flashing fast and then finally dying on me. i thought it was just that one. i emailed the seller. he said he couldnt do anything.
so i actually bought some new ones to replace my dome lights. worked a few days and died. i dont know if it is those particular festoons from hong kong but i need to find out if i should get the piaa leds. if not im just going to buy the regular superwhite bulbs.

most of the asian made variants from superbrightleds or autolumination, or anything like those; are overdriven, and soldered by a monkey. if the solder joints dont give, the LEDs will. they are what they are, cheap LED bulbs. for that purpose, they are great.
Im not badmouthing them because I sell bulbs, I sell all of 1 bulb size; and at 30$ a set, not expecting to compete with any of those bulbs. so Im just stating the obvious. I used to buy autoluminations broken bulbs to salvage their plastic bases off of. needless to say, there were plenty of broken bulbs to buy from them.

Those Festoon lights didn't come cheap either. I bought some a month ago however I rarely leave the maplights set to the doors so they haven't gone out on me. Only really used at night. But that's a shame to know that they will be going out soon enough. I really liked the way they made the interior look too

But if the cheap LED's result in a ticket (or series of tickets!) those LED's become expensive very fast. I need some quality ones and I've been through both of the above companies products with less than a good experence.
