Default Removed 3M Chip Guard

Hey guys I just got my Z a bout a week ago its a Redline Coupe 2003 it would be the same as the American Touring 6spd. Anyways It had chip guard all over the front of it and I took it off today. It left a lot of glue residue. I was wondering if anyone knew what would work to remove the residue??

Thanks

The first thing I would try is some Goo Gone - it's very good at removing adhesives. If that doesn't work, check with a 3M authorized installer, I'm sure they can tell you how to remove and cleanup after.

Its a 3yr old car and it looked dull where the tape was. Aside from the glue left over it looks perfect now. I called the 3M we (Barrie Nissan) deal with and they just said to use like a degreaser solution. I think our detailer is going to have a lot of work in front of him tomorrow lol.

I am gonna call our body shop about that other stuff though.

I used odorless mineral spirits from the hardware store to remove the adhesive goo left behind after removing my parking permit. That stuff is good to keep around to get dried bugs and scuff marks off the car as well.

uh, arent mineral spirits the active ingredient in paint thinner? I can't imagine thats the best thing for your paint.

I would try goo gone. Works great on adhesive leftovers.

I have been using mineral spirits for over 15 years and never had a problem. I put it on a clean terry cloth/old t-shirt and gently rub over the area. I then wash it off and apply wax over the now cleaned and dried area.
