I bought snap in kits (4 if doing 2 sets of seats) and I drilled into the floor and side of the hump and installed them. We had it on a lift to make sure there were not any clearance issues.

That is the preferred way when you are not using a threaded mount.

Many times the snap in kits are threaded to the stock seat belt mounting points and do not need any welding.

welcome to the boards bro. Thank you for sharing your story. I'm sure it has inspired us all to live everyday to its fullest.

Do you have any pics of the harness bar from a more towards a side view? I want to see how far the bar bends into the trunk. I have a subwoofer there, and i want to see if there is any way to clear it.

Thanks.

Read your story, it's hard to appreciate the little things when you do them everyday...but glad to see you're driving a Z! Sweet ride too and nice harness bar

I don't have pics of that view that you are talking about. It is a little hard to get in position while in a wheelchair. But anywho, the bar doesn't go past the back of the rear speaker, glovebox plastic.

I called them (http://www.speedwaremotorsports.com/ )and there is no current recall on the bar according to them. I don't know what bracket issue you are talking about. These are the mfg for the Sparco bars. You can call them and talk to Dan. He is the one that had his hands in the design.

Mine works fine and I am happy with it.

Nice pics and, more importantly, very inspiring story Brian.

I just picked mine up a couple of days ago and am not aware of any recall. Anyone else have info on the recall?

I cannot say what it specifically involves, as I am not sure, but Sparco called every direct dealer they sold to, and asked that the bars be sent back. We had just got our stock in, and had not even checked them into inventory yet, but already are on the way back. Not sure what the issue was (I didn't ask), nor what the resolution will be. If I find out more, I'll post. I doubt many are in consumer hands as of yet as the part literally was just released a few days ago

^ Thanks! I just spoke with Sparco. The problem is when you insert the bracket into the slit/opening in the bar and you tighten the allen bolt it does not tighten or fit snug. It does not affect all bars but apparently some with the first batch. I'll give mine a try tonight. Again, when you go to tighten the allen bolt after the mounting bracket is inserted, it does not tighten enough and there is still some slack.

I was told to crank down on that bolt and it is pretty damn solid. I used my impact allen wrenches with a 1/2" ratchet.

Great Story. It's good to see you are overcoming your injuries. I grew up with a guy who had a bad accident and ended up in a similar state. He never let it control him, and it is good to see you are just as strong.

I just picked up my harness bar & helmet today. I plan on taking my Z on the track which is why I bought it.

Did Sparco send any instructions with yours, or did you use one of the on-line instructions as a guide? Which belts did you get?

I would love to see the shot of where the belts attach down below.

Thanks for any info!
