Sparco Harness Bar Installed (Pics)
FYI - Update on the Sparco Bar.
I just got off the phone with Sparco. I was looking for installation instructions. They told me that they were tweaking the design of the bracket that attaches to the existing seatbelt hardware. There was too much play. They should have it done next week. It sounded like they were just going to send out new brackets.
I give the guy at Sparco props. He gave me his direct email and told me to send him the contact info along with the invoice # so he could communicate directly with me instead of sending me through the dealer.

Great story Brian! I'm a para myself and have recently purchased a Z too! I sent you a PM btw. I broke my back 8.5 years ago in a motorcycle accident as well. Like yourself I was extremely passionate bikes, and I do miss it still even to this day. Unfortunately I never did take the time to put my story online, but thanks again for sharing yours.

My chair breaks down ... wheels pops off, seat cushion comes off, and back folds down. The chair itself is titanium, so its really light (15 lbs without wheels). And the design of the chairs makes it so it is "L" shaped after I break it down. When I'm by myself the chair goes into the front passenger seat. I cut out some holes in two tennis ***** to cover the axle since there is alot of grease there. As for the wheels, I use wheel bags (same bags used for bicycle wheels), and the wheels goes into the rear hatch area. The passenger seatbelt secures the chair good enough. I should take some pictures and post them. When my wife is with me, the chair does fit in the hatch with the front casters pointing up in the air. The spare tire was removed, and the area carpeted and my wheels on my chair goes in there, thus leaving plenty of room for luggage in the hatch.

I will try to get pics of how everything is stored in the car when I get a chance, since other with similiar disibilities might find it informational.
That looks fantastic!!!, props to your courage and the mod..
but the way those harnesses are installed on the stock seats would worry me a little .. I mean what's to keep them from spreading apart in god forbid a collision? you should get a set of racing seats for added safety..

I got my stuff from my local shop that ordered them for me. They are Sparco 3" Belts.
As for the seats and the belt issue, those things are tight and they have no chance of splitting apart. Once you are in them, you are in them.
I also posted a link to this place that you can get the bar and belts from: http://www.speedwaremotorsports.com/
They are the makers of the bars for Sparco.
They also make the seat brakets for Sparco if you are wanting some brakets.
Just get them directly from the maker...less lead time.

BDM: How far rearward would you say the harness bar goes from the shoulder-belt mounting point?
I'm trying to determine if I can fit this harness bar in my car with my amp ramp and amps where they are. It seems like it would fit, or may be close. But I can't tell from the pics exactly how big that bar is.
Any guesstimate on the distance from the mounting point to the outside of the 90 deg bend?
Killer setup BTW. All very clean. Can't wait to get my harness installed!
Thx
