Default Billet Grill

Hey guys, I think I want to put a chrome grill in the front of my 05 blue 350Z. I was on ebay and found a nice billet grill for about $130. Does anyone know how those grills install? How hard they are to install? Drilling required?

Some use plastic wire ties to attach themselves over the top of the stock grill.

The model I got required that I cut out the stock one using a hacksaw blade. It then attaches to the two plastic pieces on either side of the grill opening using four screws. If I need a two hook put in I remove the four screws from the front and the whole grill comes off and gets put in the trunk.

they usually go over the factory grille, and bolt on...

some of the ebay ones are pretty cheap quality without great fittment...

This may be the same or a similar grille...

Now that's a nice grill! Do you have to drill? How hard is it to drill?

I went with i think a 13 bar chrome on my DB. I like it since you dont see it to often. It didnt take any cutting or anything, it connected over the existing plastic and is held on with a retaining bar system you screw in from the back. Due to vibrations I do have to tighten it down about every other month just to be safe though. sorry for the pic link but im at work and cant really log out to get a better pic. http://myspace-808.vo.llnwd.net/0091...18920808_l.jpg

My grille uses 2 "J" hooks that keep it attached to the stock grille. No drilling, no cutting...take 5 mins to install. I got mine off ebay for like $50 I think. I like it.

This is the only pic I have on this PC...but I think it's the one that Jason posted.

That's a similar grille that I have . . . they add some character to my Z, which differentiates it from others. The lines are cleaner also versus the OEM black molded grilles.

The front end of my car is so beat up with chips and marks that the grille helps hide some of it...or at least distracts your eyes from noticing the awful paint.

I bought the B-Cool billet grille, and as Paul350Z mentioned, I had to cut the stock grill out in order to install it. For quick removal, I used hex-head bolts (which look a little slicker than a regular bolt, imo) and wingnuts on the back side. I have had it for almost a year and it's held up great.

The newer grills come with that J bracket that clips onto the stock grill, it literally takes 10 mins to install.

Jason, that link is for the honey-comb grill pattern, not the straight bars.
