A rectangular crossbeam about 3 to 4 inches deep crosses the trunk bottom toward the front of the car in relationship to the stock muffler location.

The huge aluminum crossmember that the suspension bolts to is in front of that.

So, my thought is, if this piece's front edge (the edge toward the front of the car) is higher than the low part of the first crossmember, then little or no airflow will "push down" on this part, which was one thing I wondered about when it was reveled that it only attached at the sides and rear.

Now vacuum is another animal.
Underbody diffusers are designed to work as a vacuum. There should be no air allowed to run over top of the diffuser, only between the diffuser and the ground.

"A rear diffuser, otherwise known as a venturi, isdesigned to create a low-pressure or vacuum area under the rear of the car using a physics principle known as the Venturi effect. In essence, a diffuser is like an air channel that is designed to accelerate the air out from underneath the back of the car and help to both minimize underbody wind turbulence and to create negative lift at the rear of the car."

can you not install the side curve parts? I see that the diffuser comes in 3 parts. i think without the extra side parts the diffuser is sweet.

I'm thinking about that too. I'm going to try both. They can be taken off easily...just 3 screws on each side.
