Default Help! My seatbelt is choking me!

I'm 5'4" and am having fits with my seatbelt. I just got my car and am having a hard time enjoying it because while driving I spend the entire time pulling the seatbelt off my neck. Are any of you other "vertically challenged" drivers having the same problem? Have you come up with a "fix"? Thanks for any help!

Would a "harness pad" make it less painful? If so, ebay has a number of Nissan or Nismo models.

I have a similar issue with the belt. The counter weight tends to really pull the belt into my gut. I went to frys and got one of those shoulder pad things with velcro. I tightly velcroed the pad before the hip clasp so that the belt couldn't be tugged on all the way by the counter weight. It works fairly well.

Every new car I've owned in the past 10 years does this (5'8" here Usually a year after the car is out there is a recall and they put in a strap on the seat itself. I don't know why this happens but it does *every* time.

my sis is like 5'2, she doenst have a Z, but in her car she has this like "thing... it goes down by the buckle, and is very similair to the kid things that basicly lowers it on your chest. works for her, hers is leopard print. its a bit more function specific, and your not likely to get flamed for having a shoulder pad...

or the other option, 4 point seat belts

Thanks, everyone! Ares, I think you're on to something. This sounds like a great solution - my search for this contraption will begin tomorrow.

I'm 5'5" and having the same problem. I don't want to use a seatbelt pad cause they look like **** IMO. Sooooooo, some cars (usually coupes and/or convertibles have seatbelt "guides" mounted to the top side of the driver and passenger seat. Looks like a roundish piece of plastic that the seatbelt feeds through. So I spent a lovely February afternoon at local Pick-N-Pull slavage yard and found a bunch of examples. I'm in the process of painting of of these to match the interior. This saturday will be the real test as I try to figure out how in the hell I'm going to attach it to the seat. Will post pics if you'd like. See below for examples of what I'm talking about. later

not a bad idea, but if you have side airbags, some of those might mess with that.

Here's the final product. Cost about $10 and more time than I can think of. But I like how it came out...

ARES, your're right about the side airbags. I gues those people are more or less SOL. I have the Enthusaist without the side bags so that wasn't a concern.

Enjoy the ride...

Found this contraption at Wal-Mart. In theory, it's a great solution. Problem is, though, it won't stay in place. Think I'll look into fdao's suggestion.
