I have a base Z, i did an aftermarket HID upgrade by adding plug and play ballast. I want to add the 06 headlights to my car. Can that be done? If so what do i need to do for a complete swap?
I came across a guy who was willing to trade his 06 headlights with my 05's. So my other question is, can the guy with the 06 headlight be able to use my 05 headlights given that i give him my ballast too?
From the readings i've been doing, i might run into problem because of the number of pin in my harness?

The pin maybe a problem and make sure the 06 lights have a ballast or your bulbs will never turn on

your base headlights won't plug into his HID harness.
For you to use his HID headlights in your base 350z, you will need to do some wire-matching (the plugs won't connect directly because of the diff. # of pins).

surprisingly yes. The guy says the 05's looks meaner while the 06 makes the car look more goofy. I'm not going to dispute his opinons since i want the 06 haha.
Yeah i posted about a swap but i went ahead and just did a hid upgrade. Now i just want to see if there are anymore updated methods in the base 05 headlight swap to an 06 and vice versa.

Guys, the plugs ARE different, they won't plug right in, this is a fact.
It doesn't mean you can't get them to work though.
You have to do is figure out what wire is for what, from the HID headlight and from the stock harness, and use some quick splits and tap each wire to the corresponding one (wire for the turn signal from the headlight tap into wire for turn signal from the stock harness, etc, etc). Yeah, it's a little rigged and crap, but that's the way to do it, unless you can find someone to sell you the complete headlight wiring system of the HID Zs, but I believe someone mentioned the dealer does not sell that part.

Are the pins just different from the 05 to the 06 hid setup?

'06: Every model comes with HID
If you have a '03-'05 Enthusiast/Touring/Performance/Track model, you can swap the '06 lights without problems.

If you car is a BASE model that does not come equipped with HID from the factory, the 2006 headlights WILL NOT work(plug and play). You can hard wire it to make it work, I have seen this done.

this is true (sort of) its not the actual blinkers that stay on. that orange bulb has 2 lights in it. one is the "parking light" the other is the brighter flasher. the parking light stays on if you have the 03-05 but the brighter flasher still blinks on and off like a turn signal
there is a thread that tells you how to cut a wire so they wont light up. but honestly imine stay on and i always thought it was supposed to be that way. im leaving mine as is
and yes you have the touring roadster so it has HID that means it is plug ans play

just a thought, i was talking to a mechanic, and he told me to look and see if there are any pigtails made to convert the 4pin to a 6pin and vice versa. Has anyone heard anything like this?
