NRG Hood Damper
I was interested in getting the NRG hood damper for my Z but unfortunately the recent group buy for it was closed. I am thinking about just paying the regular price for it, but I wanted to know what was the best way to install it as it looks like some modification to the brake fluid cover is needed. I have read that one guy used a heat gun to heat up the plastic cover and then closed the hood to create the shape of the damper but I am worried I may screw that up and my brake fluid cover will look bad. Thanks!

Perfect!
The NRG hood dampers will work fine with the 350Z. As in some of the other versions, you will NOT have to cut any long rectangular holes in your covers to accommodate the dampers. When the hood is closed the plastic covers do not interfere with these hood dampers.

You won't have to destroy your covers

With the NRG dampers, the ONLY cutting that you will be performing on the covers is a small semi circle to expose the fender bolt. (use a Dremel tool) When the bolt is removed, the stem end of the damper (with ball joint bolt) will take its place.

He's got 'em
I purchased my NRG hood Dampers from this vendor. He had these HD-300 hood dampers available on eBay for a short time. However, you can go direct and visit his Speed N Stylez web site.

If you order a pair, just tell him that I recommended you to his site.

The NRG Hood Dampers are offered at a fairly reasonable price.
However, THIS........$229.00, before shipping

They work PERFECTLY!

It's certainly a good looking and functioning MOD. It's reasonably priced and allows easy access to the engine bay without the chance of knocking into the prop from time to time. If you happen to be showing off your engine outdoors, the hood can't get rattled about on a windy day.

If you have a CF hood however, these will not work well, because the shocks are too strong. I am testing the NRG hood shocks myself for my CF hood, and am waiting on a new set of lighter strength shocks.
Again, if you have a CF hood, it'll be too strong for the hood, and it will put too much stress on the hinge area.
The hood opens a tiny bit more than stock, about an inch and a half more, not much.
I so far like my NRG setup....
