Default ATTN: Sparco seat owners

ok.. i'm blessed with the asian blood of shortness.. 5'4 to be exact. So, the factory seats have to go in this car.. i was planning on replacing them with some Sparco's..

question is, lol - yeah, go ahead laugh.. do they raise you up in the car any? I would love to sit up a few inches higher in this car and i am just about ready to heist a booster seat from Shoneys and roll with it..

any Sparco seat owners have any feedback? help a short brotha out...

If you replace your seats with aftermarket, height will be pretty much the same or lower it (very little).

You can always have custom made brackets. I brought my seats from Southrider, and I believe the brackets on them are a bit too high, as they aren't designed for the Z.

It sits about 1 inch higher than stock, which is bad for me lol. (Asian too btw)

you will need to be careful though... because if the seats are raised, it means that you need to sit even closer to the wheel to reach the pedals... by raising 1" higher, it actually makes a HUGE difference... you will definitely need longer legs to reach the pedals when you are sitting at the same position from the steering wheel... my experienced is based on my recaro bucket seats... the original side frames raised the seat about 1 inch higher and I really needed to sit a lot closer to the wheel than before, that was also why I changed to another set of side frames to bring the sitting position down. Best of luck!

cheers,

richie

I know this is a late reply, but maybe this will help.

If you get a bottom mount seat (rail bolts below the seat, i.e. sparco torino), height will be higher by approximately .5-1", depending on seat/rail/slider combo.

If you get a side mount seat (rail bolts to the side of the seat, i.e. sparco evo) & use something like the nams/nagisa rails or bride fg rails, you will sit approximately .25"-.5" lower at the lowest adjustment setting. However, there are 3 adjustment holes front & rear that will allow you to raise it another 1"-2" in height.

These #'s are for my 240sx, but they should hold true for the most part for your z.

Here's a picture of the bride fg rails:

Anyone know if they make some kind of seat that you can adjust the height? My wife is short, and asian, and loves to drive my Z, but she complains she has a hard time seeing over the steering. (Dont tell me how stereotypical that sounds. LOL) Id love to get some after market seats that raise for her and lower for me without having to unscrew bolts and such.

There are many brackets you can get, also you can modify to lift up or lower as much as you want...

custom seat brackets are totally FTW.. even though they are generally more expensive... they fit you and the seat the best.

well. i had mine made at Technosquare using the sparco sliders and side mounts i had bought... they chopped the side mounts, welded it to the sliders, then made the sliders bolt into the car at the correct height...

any reputable machine shop that does welding should be able to do it..

So I could probably just have my sparco flat bottom mounts modified...

My Sparco Torino was slightly raised in both my Prelude and my Z with Sparco brackets.

I'm fine with it. I barely clear 5'7". Its a little tight with a helmet when I auto-x/road race, but other than that quite comfy.

I <3 my Torino's.

just got my torino's installed and i must say that the fitment issue isn't that big of a deal to me, it is higher up...but it is not incredibly noticeable, IMO
