Default Seibon Carbon Fiber Vs2 hood not latching right? HELP!

It seems the part that latches is alittle shorter then the oem hood by about 1/2 of an inch. Is that enough for it not to connect into the latching meganism? Right now it just latches onto the part that just holds it but it still moves freely alittle. Anyone know? Someone at vivid racing said I could adjust the hood latch. Here is a pic if someone could just paint circles around the bolts I need to loosen.

I've had this problem, remove the latch and install hood pins. You can actually get a decent set at Advanced Auto parts.

Yeah that's always an option but no more money. I need to work with what I've got, and that's some bullcrap fitment. I just wish someone new the answer to this like right now!

don't uninstall the latch - i had the same problem, so what I did was loosen up these three bolts and had someone else pull up on it as hard as they could while I tightened the bolts back down. It fit perfectly after that, haven't had any issues. Although I would recommend getting hood pins as an added safety feature. I drove down the highway a lot more comfortably once I had those.

Yeah I tried that. Does it matter if the latch that is connected to the bottom of the underbelly of the hood is shoter then the OEM hood by oh say, half an inch?

Its hard to tell from you pictures but you should be able to move the latch up/down to help get it to fit right. The latch is shorter which means the latch mechanism needs to move up. It will take some tinkering but you should be able to get it to fit.

I just had my dad pull the latch up as hard as he can and I tightened it. So

not sure what to tell ya man... I had the exact same problems as you and this is what I did and it worked for me. Have you got it aligned correctly and far enough forward?

Any body shops still open that are nearby you could run it to?

Not sure about the body shops. It's aligned correctly. My dad and I put the bolts loose then adjusted it as far and as forward as possible and nothing. Just seems the only thing that is standing in the way is the shorter latch arm on the under belly of the cf hood?

I'm talking to some one at vivid racing and their saying even their are hoods that go on easy and some don't, but even the worst do. So I think i'm just missing some other minor tips.

I just called seibon and told them I got my hood from you and they said you're not an authorized distributor, so he thinks that you may have sent me a fake hood, because they said they’ve never had a fitment issue with the cs2 hood on a 350z?

just Ream out the holes where the bolts go with a drill bit. you will be able to move the latch a half an inch in any direction... I had the same problem.. Remove the latch from the car before you start drilling.....

I had the same problem you just need to shave a little off from the latch thing cause its not clamping on right its too thick, Shave it alittle if you have the tools.

Haha Don't worry, Jim didn't sell you a fake hood. I got mine from him as well. He's a good guy. Nothing to worry about. I should really do some messing around with my latch so it hooks better too. It doesn't always want to catch and takes some playing with. Solid as a rock though on the highway at high speed. Never seen it budge and I don't have hood pins. Oh, as far as authenticity goes, you should have a Seibon emblem on the front under the hood to prove it to yourself.
