shipping damage.
anyone here had ordered a carbon fiber lip and was damaged when recieved?
I ordered a lip from carbon limited and when I got the lip it was damaged. Who should file the claim? The shipper or me? I called DHL and they told me processing time is 2-4 weeks. That sucks coz I waited so long to have the money to buy that lip and that will happen. Anyone who happened the same thing? What didi you do and how long did you get the new lip or the refund?

It doesnt matter if its UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL, etc. Its about the way the package is handled and I would say that all the above mentioned carriers are negligent on the way they handle their packages and receiving damaged goods is a risk the consumer is taking when you are ordering from a vendor or on line. It is all about what carrier has the best results for what happeneds after the package is damaged. I would say that UPS has one of the best turn around times and approvals for insurance claims. You also need to make sure that the shipper is packaging your product PROPERLY and SAFELY with insurance otherwise it will be negligence on the shipper and if it is, more than likely the claim will not be paid out. In your case, CarbonLTD should be the one filing the claim, not you. You are the receiver and customer and should not have to deal with the inconvenience with filing a claim, we never let our customers file the insurance claims. I think CarbonLTD has a pretty good reputation on this board, I think you should trust them to handle your particular situation accordingly.

I have to agree, every carrier is negligent. Dealing with only carbon fiber parts makes it that much worse. I've tried every carrier there is and have yet to find one I can say I "trust" with these fragile packages. Believe me, I do EVERYTHING I can to package these as best as possible, but when handlers just set heavy packages on top of these boxes, there isnt much hope that they wont be damaged.
Now as for who should file the claim, had the package been inspected at delivery and known to have damage the customer is instructed to deny shipping and return it to the sender and I will then file the claim. Since this lip was not inspected I can not file the claim. Me and Michael have been in contact numerous times with DHL and both were told he should file the claim since he is the one who paid for the shipping. I will do whatever I can on my end to speed up the claim process. In the meantime I'm working on getting a replacement. Dont worry Michael I'll take care of you.
