I have 27% I beleive on there now and want to get it quite dark, like maybe 10-15 percent on my side windows..they said if they put another layer of 27% over it, that it will be in that range..Does this sound right and does anyone have any pics of their windows this dark in Silverstone?
I got my windows tinted over the holidays. Apparently my windows had a very light tint to them from the dealership or factory so they had to do this same thing to mine, would've been too expensive and time consuming to try and remove the factory tint. I was wanting 20 percent and afterwards I believe my windows are around 22 percent. They should be able to get it close to what you want. Was not able to get a warranty though due to the overlays.
^ But it's illegal here in FL.
No tint on the windshield (aside from small srtip at the top.. I think under 4")
20% front
15% rear unless it's a limo, SUV, or truck topper- then you can go limo.
Cops can't pull you over for it but it gives them a reason to look for something else and if they get the chance they will pull you over and write you a ticket.

It's a hazzard at night if you ask me. When I was 17, myself and a friend tinted our cars all around limo black. Problem is, at night you really limit your visibility. I reckon 35% at the front is the max anyone should go.

Don't listen to them, just do what you want. I'm gonna go with 20% on the sides and back and probably leave the front alone. I think the worse that can happen is they give you a fix it ticket and who cares? Is it that hard/expensive to get the tint off your car so you can get just one layer? That would probably get you exactly the % you want

No worries, bro. I thought you said you were doubling up on tint making it pretty dark.

i have 20% all around, no problems seeing at all. as for tint over tint, i wouldnt recomend it. and a lot of tint shops wont warranty the tint over tint. tint sticks to glass, its harder for tint to stick to tint.

granted mine is not under warranty, the shop said that if they attempted to take off the factory tint it might run the risk of messing up the rear defrosters, not to mention doubling the cost of the job. 20 percent is not that dark really, I still see fine out of it. At times I wish it was a little darker.
Any film, when doubled over, will obviously make it twice as dark (think about it). So 27% + 27% will result in 13.5%. But I would advise just getting the existing tint removed at a good shop and getting new one applied at your visibility% preference. Two films would be just too thick for normal window operation, IMO, and I wonder whether film will stick as well to itself as it does to glass in the long run.
a good shop can double up tint, i had double 5% on my truck. couldnt seen in even with a flashlight. but for what you want i would just have them peel of the existing and re-tint it with what you want

Alright.. to clear this up
Florida Window Tint Law
Florida Tint Law Enacted: 1991
HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN FLORIDA?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Florida, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 28% of light in.
Back Side WindowsMust allow more than 15% of light in.
Rear WindowMust allow more than 15% of light in.
HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN FLORIDA?

Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.
Front Side WindowsMust not be more than 25% reflective.
Back Side WindowsMust not be more than 25% reflective.
OTHER FLORIDA RULES AND REGULATIONS
Restricted Colors- No colors of tint are explicitly banned.
Side Mirrors- Dual side mirrors are required if back window is tinted.
Certificate Requirements- Manufacturers of film do NOT need to certify the film they sell in the state.
Sticker Requirements- The sticker to identify legal tinting is required on the inside of the driver’s side doorjamb.
Medical Exemption- State allows medical exemptions for special tint.
For more details about the specific terms of the exemption, consult your state law.
