Default Looking for big downforce from wing/spoiler

I've got a big traction problem even on the highway at 60-70mph. I'm hoping someone knows of a very lightweight, high downforce wing that if truly for function rather than looks. I've accepted that I'll never get traction on the street but I"m looking for something that will really help on highways at speed

Thanks!

This is a serious thread, no idiot ricer pics of honda's with massive wings please. I was on the highway last night and downshifted from 6th to 4th a little under 70mph and broke the tires loose. There are enough tech guys around here where i"m sure someone knows of some wicked, carbon functional wing that is not retarded looking

If this is a serious thread, what is your current setup?

oh cmon don't get your panties in a wad... you just said you wanted a really big fully functional airplane wing.... yes you SHOULD have known better!

ok the 600hp+ hp goes without saying if you have traction problems at 60-70mph... what are you doing for suspension/tire?? Tires hate cold weather you know?

A wing is not going to give you much help at 60mph - get some better, larger tires...

Maybe you should have worded your post a little differently or told us more about your car and problem. And I think I mentioned this before its hard to understand people's sense of humor over the cpu, we were just having some fun, lighten up man and no need for the f*ckin idiot comment DOOD!!!!!!!!!

+1

What kind of suspension setup also? Plenty of negative camber could cause that as well.

well. depends on what you want vs how you want it to look.

a lot of people get crap on this forum for their wing choices, myself included, but to hell with them all cuz we *need* it! (but i have way less hp than you. i'm just around 5xx)

as always. higher the wing off the trunk hatch, the more it will work, it needs to be in the airstream for air flow to go under/over it. as far as you breaking traction from the 6->4 gear change, that may just be how your engine is transfering energy to tires and your tires just dont have enough width to stick. however an aggressive angle of attack on the rear wing might help slightly..

well if you really want good traction, may i suggest the following wings:

Top Secret GT2 wing, Voltex Type 1 or 3, Ings+1 High Mount wing. adding a gurney flap to the trailing edge of the wing increases the downforce signficantly, however you will suffer top end speed/drag effect the mor aggressive you go. and you will feel it, the car just doesnt feel like it wants to go anymroe at high speeds..

also.. depending on your exhaust setup, a rear diffuser may assist your wing at higher speeds than 60+.

this is my current wing & diffuser setup: (its really not that high. its just my camera angle)

*(its for sale by the way.. i'll give you a good deal)*

and i am transitioning to the voltex type 3 when my carbon hatch is put on this week...

oh yes. with the addition of the wing. you get free membership to the Salad Bar Club which i own and operate...

What traction problem at 70 MPH? Doesn’t matter if you have 300 or 600 horsepower, 70 MPH is still 70 MPH. I don’t get it.

Downforce is not your problem at that speed, under those conditions (high downforce is to keep the car planted at high speeds under cornering; it actually slows you down in a straight line). Look at your suspension/wheel/tire setup as well as road/temp coinditions. Even then, downshifting from 6th to 4th and planting it, you're going to break them loose with that kind of power unless you modulate the gas properly and rev-match on the downshift. Proper technique is key.
