depends completely on the job and the kind of paint, shiit, house of color paints usually run about 1200 just for the paint for the good shiit. but all depends on the shop and qaulity. it can be done for under 2k, but ill do it for 60$ and you buy the rattle cans

Expect 3-4K for an excellent paint job. It depends if you are doing a color change or not. If its a color change, the jambs and engine bay should be painted to look oem.

Perhaps if you are staying the same color and just having the outside repainted, you might get away with $2K but make sure they use a good paint brand.

2k is realistic if you are doing it yourself. Materials if purchased of good quality will run that much. My step dad has a color change on 78 chevy pickup and it ran him 6k. That was with moderate bodywork and misc new parts. Good Luck I am going to do this with my father who is a fantastic painter. I am pulling motor and pulling most of the interior and most of the glass as well.

Theres a lot more labor involved than you probably know on a color change. Complete disassemble for the most part. Thats half your cost right there, and todays basecoat paints and clears are outragious $$$$$$.

Earl Sheib might do it that cheap, but it won't be good. Expect $4k minimum without a color change and not including engine bay or possibly door jambs.

going along with this question, would there be much difference between re-painting a front end, front fenders and hood as opposed to painting the entire car?

I have a LOT of rockchips on my front from the previous owner, and I was considering getting it repainted. If the cost to repaint the entire car isn't too much more, I would probably do that.

I would keep it the same color too; super black.

Not unless they use a sponge to apply the paint

Yes, there is a lot more work to do an entire vehicle versus just the front end.

my shop teacher back in high school got his car painted at Maaco. It was so bumpy, it looked like the car was allergic to something!

Earl Scheib & Maaco have various packages all depending on the prep work you want done. Not that I would take my car there but even their premium paint service will still run you around 2k plus without a color change.

I would say about 2500 for a good quality 2-stage paint job.. Thats how much mine ran me on my 97' Ford Ranger, Going from black to orange.. using PPG Paint + Clear coat.. Included the jambs, and the engine bay. Also, On my 84' Blazer... I went from a Burnt orange to a Darker blue, Ran me about 4k, But I needed my dash, and fiberglass stereo also painted, and that was also HOK Paint.. heres the blazer..

that's pretty reasonable.. I definitely need the engine bay done as well, if I go for it. your car looks good... except the foot dirt on the driver mat

I would advise requesting local members for recommendations on shops and particularly, their painters. I personally, would be very weary of a quote < $3,500. My body kit paint and install + front bumper repaint alone was nearly $1,500 in all.

My Z is in the shop getting the entire car repainted. The cost is ~$5,400. That includes quality glasurit paint + labor. A crap load of labor.

You have to remember they need to sand, prep, prime, remove glass, head/tail lamps, seals, door handles, etc. to make the paint look good.

You'll get what you pay for. I'd stay away from cheap places.
