Question Removing Headlight Overlays

I'm wanting to remove my blue headlight overlays, forgot which site i ordered it from, but the overlay is starting to crack and is probably affecting my headlight beam, do you guys have any experience with taking it off? its been on for probably 1-1.5 years, i was thinking of heating with a blow dryer and using a pair of pliers to pull/rip it off, then cleaning it off with some goof-off, any suggestions would be great, tia

well overlays are just pieces of vinyl film. Eventually they will succumb to the elements outside; sun, sand, salt, heat etc. Some people have had overlays on for years with no problems, others aren't so lucky.

Edit: to the OP, you're method seems fine. When you pull the overlays off, do it slowly so that it doesn't rip...it's just easier to take on peice off than multiple ripped ones. You might also have more luck if you wait for a nice hot day, where the adhesive will be a little more uniformly tacky, and the hairdryer will be even more effective.

My overlays are about two years old and they look great. Plus they save your lights from getting cracked by rocks, ect...

Don't overlays cause stress cracks on the headlight? I saw post #8 on this thread: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....light=blackout

So those cracks the OP was talking about might not be the overlays, but the headlights themselves maybe?

This has been an ongoing issue since the car came out in 03. Even 06's got stress fractures without any overlays. Some people had overlays, and some didnt. There are threads pointing to the lack of quality in the Lexan used to make the headlights causing them to crack. I had mine for a couple years and never had stress cracks. Several guys in are club as well, no cracks whatsoever.

bringing this back from the dead, i removed the overlay but my headlight does have stress cracks, its only in one of the headlights though, is this a caused by the overlay? headlightarmor or what ever. will this be covered under warranty?
