Talking Carbon Fiber B-Pillar Covers... pics inside ->

these are courtesy of courtesy (courtesyparts.com, that is )

these are the first runs and they are trying to get a feeling on interest on these pieces... (rumor from the top is the parts will cost *about* $220 a set). This is similar in price to central20's listed price of 26,000 yen ($218.00 US)

details: these are replacement parts that are carbon fiber overlayed... these are not like the nissan japan "front air dam finisher," which is fake carbon fiber painted plastic...

i have personally seen them on white, black, CS, silverstone and of course, daytona... it looks awesome on any color!

courtesy would like the community feedback, so feel free to post here...

(please excuse fingerprints... i was in a hurry to get them on the car!)

parts:

before:

after:

on my car:

Actually, I think the added contrast is not so good. Especially with those tinted windows, it makes the B pillar stand out even more. Without the CF parts, the original black kind of blends in with the windows.

Nice part, not for me.

Very nice i like them alot. I was going to order some though central 20 the price is was too much and i hate waiting.

If they were a little cheaper Id go though courtesy and not have to wait. Are they tasking oders now?

This doesn't do anything for me. To each thier own.

What is the attraction of using carbon fiber for this and several other applications I've seen here lately?

The material was developed for high strenth and lightweight applications. I find it a waste since you could cover the parts with plastic and get the same effect.

thanks, i happen to like them alot, as do most people who have seen them in person. i dont know if courtesy is taking orders yet, but i am sure they will soon.. (possibly pre-order from the website...?)

i know witht the new rules here, details about selling these cannot be posted in this forum.. i would say to keep an eye out on their website, or shoot a PM to steve (partspeddler)

good luck!

thanks again

Carbon fibre is supposed to be a lightweight material that you use to save weight while adding strength. Putting faux CF over the existing part and adding weight seems absolutely ridiculous. All IMHO of course.

Ehh, not to my taste. I also don't get putting CF over the top of stuff.

To each their own, I suppose.

youre right... this is why i removed the center cupholder from the car, as i dont carry food/drink in the car... it weighed more than the added weight of the carbon fiber. i am now weighing less!

and btw, its not "faux" carbon fiber... its real... i posted that already.

whats the funniest is this is not in the mod for performance forum, but in the mod for appearance... i guess i didnt spell out that it is for looks, not to make the b-pillar stronger, or make the car any lighter or faster...

I think raceboys point was that even though this is 'real carbon fiber', the use of this lightweight-but-strong material in a strictly cosmetic application is a fake application.

Reminds me of parachute pants from the 80's. While the zippers were real, the application was fake.

This use of carbon fiber as a 'cosmetic enhancement' is a fad, and will eventually fade away.

On the bright side, 20 years from now, it will be popular again.

Well for me the carbon fiber 3d effect is cool enhancement.
Its look very nice and looks way better then black B pillar plastic thats already scratched on both sides of my Z.

Honestly its in the appearence mods section. Its really funny to me the comments of rice no fuction etc. I bet it probabaly adds a half of a pound at most.

You guys crack me up. Taking the cup hoder out to save weight are you kidding me. Ive yet to see a full stripped out Z.

Well heres a real weight reduction tip. From the Z pics that Ive seen a few members could use a diet and maybe a trip to the crapper. That alone will give alot of so called track stars better times.

Take an ugly girl, give her all the "cosmetic enhancements" you want. Then have kids with her. Know what you get? Ugly kids!!

Now here is a use of carbon fibre in a road car that I can put my stamp of approval on (I know no one gives a crap about my "stamp of approval!):

Wow you see the z as an ugly women? Moding the Z to me is like dressing up a hot chick with no clue.

It like getting a girl to ware a nice pair of thongs V.S. a pair of her old granie panties. I perfer the thong look some (no offence) old folks like the grandma ones.

I see the same thing with the Z . The Z looks good with carbon fiber and looks good without. It a hot car reguardless.

I woundnt say the its an ugly girl even though they need love too.

I normally don't like carbon fiber as an accent to a car, but the plastic b pillars are so crappy i may consider this. They never look "clean". Wax doesn't help them and it throws off the super blackness of my car.

I swear, sometimes this place is like special-ed for waterheads. This is *real* carbon fiber overlayed on the B-pillar cover. It adds MAYBE 2-3 ounces to the weight. That's my Silverstone in the pictures. The finished piece is of very high quality and nicely done. Is it for me? No. Frankly, I think it looks stupid on my otherwise stock car, but for those building up very nice, show quality cars, it's a must have for that extra bit of panache.

How come recently that anything a person does to their car that is not performance related is rice? "look at the bird sh*t on the hood, thats so rice man" Some people don't care about going fast. The average speed is 45 anyway. To each their own, but I would hardly consider this rice, it's not for me, but far be it for me to deny anyone else. It will look really nice on the show cars and with body kits. IMO
