Awesome post. If you do something using your process please make a DIY with pictures, the process is a little vague to me in some parts, but very very cool to know that I could one day have an entirely carbon fiber body if I practiced this. Sound cheaper than body work too if you damage your bumper or somthing like that, just borrow a friends.

franklin,

Wow, call McLaren, with your process they could save millions on their F1 development

Steve,

You have successfully hijacked yet another thread that could have contained some useful information for people interested in the product. Now it is just about your crusade to rid the world of what you don't like. I have read your diatribes more times than I care to remember, going back to Spyderchat. It is time that you and the other members of this board that try to push there beliefs on everyone else get off your high horses and learn to live in the real world with the rest of us. If you don't like the current import scene, then get out. If you are afraid that other people might associate your car with a Civic because something other people have done to their Z's, go buy a Z06. You are fighting a losing battle that is just ridiculous to wage. We all know how you feel about non-performance enhancing mods, and we know how you feel about money not spent on improving driving skills. Now please allow those people that want to discuss such things as GT wings and bodykits, neon and non-functional CF, and ridiculously large wheels go about their discussions without your thread-jacking comments.

Let's talk about actual reality and not just your reality. If people are gonna go around doing ridiculous things and then post them, other people are always going to laugh at them. There are entire websites devoted to this phenomenon (beaterz.com).

I am not part of any "current import scene." That fad will come and go just like bell bottoms. All these kiddies will grow up one day and look at the pictures of the cars they drove and just laugh at themselves. Why not save yourself the aggravation? I am part of the sportscar and performance driving scene. And that is what the Z is, a sportscar. It actually hurts me to see the poor car turned into an abortion. Imagine how an artist would feel looking at the Mona Lisa after some idiot penned in a mustache on her, get the idea?

you are very funny guy, you might want to call all the F1 development teams and ask exactly where they use carbon fiber/kevlar, cause last time i checked they use it extensively all over the car!!! not just an engine cover, or c-pillar!!
A: it serves a purpose on these cars
B: these are one of cars, so it doesnt matter how much money goes into them
C: 95% of the time when you see an F1 car, you dont even see the carbon fiber.
thank you and please drive through.

your statement about us not liking the "import scene"??? wtf??
to me the import scene has nothing to do with fancy french cut doors, single blade windsheild wipers, led lights out the wazoo, and most body kits, i dont like HIN, i dont like 10 out of 12 import shows due to the fact that there is so MUCH FAKENESS rolling around.
its you sir, and your friends that are ruining this scene for those of us that are die hard and wish to have fun "tinkering" (not buying and bolting) with our cars.
trust me, weve all been there sonny; outrageous body kits, dubs, lights everywhere and big booming speakers, but being an attention ***** does get old, and soon enough youll grow up just like the rest of us and decide its not worth it.
i was in your shoes, now all i want is something stock looking, maybe some nice shoes on it, and the rest is on the motor.

go buy yourself and altezza kit and tell me how hard is was to install it in a week.

you made my day with that post!!!

Wow, it is amazing what people say when they have no idea to whom they are talking.

Franklin,

I fully realize how much CF is used in F1 cars. Do you believe that the process you detailed will create CF pieces of the same quality used by F1 teams? Not so. I was pointing this out without making it a longer post (too late for that.) Assuming that the homemade CF pieces are equal in quality and strength to those made through different processes was short-sighted. That said, you should start your own thread with the how-to information for those that want to make there own CF parts for their cars.

As for this sonny-thing, why do you assume I am young, or your junior. Before you go lumping me into some category that makes it easier for you to feel better about your opinions, you should ask some questions or read my previous posts. First, I never said that this mod, or many of the mods that you listed, are something in which I am interested. Instead, I was purely pointing out that the member's of this board that are interested in discussing this type of matter have the right to do so without you all hijacking ever single one of the threads with this Rice discussion, for lack of a better term.

You seem to have a very narrow definition of the import scene. Your definition is not the only right definition. The import scene is the scissor doors and huge GT wings. It's also the tastefully, understated cars with more go, than show. And neither you nor Steve seem to understand; it is not your scene or my scene or their scene. It is less defined than you all seem to want to make it.

Instead of telling me that you think I need to grow up (man I wish I still needed to grow up,) maybe you should redirect some of this energy you seem to have to try and belittle people. How about using it to fight the urge to comment on something that you have no interest in other than to bash the people that are trying to discuss a topic in which they are interested?

Steve,

You always bring up this comment that if they didn't to be ridiculed they shouldn't bring it up. Why is that you feel that just because you feel something is deserving of ridicule means that you should do so. Do you really think that helps anything? All you do by belittling someone else's opinions is create a hostile environment and squash creativity. (It's funny I can almost write your response for you...Creativity? what creativity? they are all like little puppy dogs following an unseen master)

Whether you like it or not, there is creativity in some of these modifications. When the custom car guys started taking Cadillac grilles and putting them on Mercury's, do you think everyone liked that. This discussion is a lot older than the slang use of rice.

Being a sports car does not ordain the Z as being just a sports car. It can be whatever its owner wants it to be. Just because your Z is a track day, daily driver to you, doesn't mean it must be to everyone else. I am sure that you will find there are many people that find your endless pursuit to reduce your lap time at a given track so you can brag about how bad *** a driver you are and how many other cars/drivers you are faster than, a waste of money and time. I am sure that you don't see your pursuit of bettering your driving skill in that light, but I will guarantee there are people that do. I don't seem to remember any of them jumping on your threads in the Race forum about how ridiculous it is for someone to spend money going around and round a track. So, how about you return the favor in kind?

WHAT DO YOU THINK!???? are my eyes fooling me!>???
last time i checked i can voice my opinion no matter what i say
i can tell you this first off, if you want a carbon fiber dress item my process will be more than enough to build you one.
now if your going to need some carbon fiber strut bars, or chassis strenghtening then yeah my process will lack some stability.
BUT GET REAL! who on this board actually is going to buy a carbon fiber chassis???

and yes my views of the import scene are one sided, somebody has to call the shots and put up limits.

you have an ugly car, i tell you its ugly, your car looks like rice, i tell you it looks like rice. theres a pattern here, i dont know if your getting it.

now there are some cars on here that i like; and what do i do?? i tell them i like their car and it looks nice.

wow, is that a simple enough explanation????

Hey man, I applaud you. No one ever went poor catering to bad taste. If people want to buy this automotive crack from you, that's their right. So what were you in high school then, a crack dealer?

As far as the mistaken analogy of why do I shouldn't talk about how meaningless mods are ridiculous because no one talks about how racing is ridiculous. Hello, the Z is a sportcar, sold as a sportscar, marketed as a sportscar. I am using it for it's intended purpose, it's raison d'etre. It's sad to see it defiled and defaced.

Why not just own an airplane (just not fly it)? You would have the biggest wings in town and you would be totally unique.

Hey dude, you're the one who accused me of being a high school bully. What does that have to do with anything at all? That is just the last resort of a weak mind.

What, now you are challenging me to a driving contest knowing that you are that far away!! LOL How safe for you. Grow up, and keep pushing your junk on the kiddies.

But, if you do want to bring that NoSeX out to the west coast, I'll take any bet you want, how's that?

Oh God, just looked at your website, no wonder.

BTW, why are all the people that love this stuff from Texas? Just pointing that out, don't kill the messenger!!

So, I am browsing the IPT website and their products. They say they are a performance parts company, but all I see are CF dress up parts. How are those "performance" parts? It also says they are "tuned?" How do you "tune" a CF dress up part? Just wondering.

franklinz,

Actually this site is not a democracy; you can't say ANYTHING you want. The mods will step in when you try to start an argument or make personal attacks.

Calling the shots? Wow, I didn't realize that you had been appointed as the official Rice Judge. Why is it that when asked why someone must belittle people for their opinions, the only response anyone comes up with is, I don't want them to ruin the image of the Z. I'll try this one more time. You do to your car as you will and others will do to theirs as they want. If you don't like what they want to do to their car, get over it. It is not your car, so you don't get a say in what they do. And trying to bully and belittle them into doing what you think they should do is not conducive to a community environment. Constructive criticism would even be better than what has been going on recently.

Simple explanation? No, please would you explain it again, but this time only use words with one syllable. I don't understand big words to well.

TRS? umm, yeah so you’re recommending to post something on a race site that is marketed as an appearance mod?

Steve,

Relax the sphincter. It is only a car.

Try re-reading my posts. This time, instead of trying to come up with a comeback as your read it, actually comprehend what I am saying.

The fact that the Z is a sports car does not change the fact that its intended purpose is still the choice of its owner. You actually made my point for me. If someone wants to by an airplane and not fly it, that's their choice. You don't get to have a say in it.

Oh, and as to the Texas thing, I guess you really didn't read my post. To give you the Reader's Digest version since you don't seem to be able to read the whole thing. I am not interested in this CF cover nor am I interested in most of the pieces in this forum.

On top of that, when you can't back your points up with logic you fall back on trying to insult me with a comment about my home state. What little respect I had for you is growing smaller and smaller. I have even defended you in the past because your opinion on performance mods has been helpful at times. I don't think I will be doing that again.

What do you think?
WHAT DO YOU THINK? i will state this one more time, "WHAT DO YOU THINK" i told the guy what i thought simple as that.
im not going to lie to someone that it looks good, why??? IF IT LOOKS GOOD ILL TELL THEM IT LOOKS GOOD, IF ITS UGLY THEN I SAY ITS UGLY. in the end its my opinion, and my answer to "WHAT DO YOU THINK?"
so far i havent crossed any boundaries when it comes to getting my posts edited, i understand that this site doesnt want thread crapping all over the place (which you did to start this flame war)

i dont bully, you use that word like you were abused in highschool or something, lay off the prozac.

after its all said and done; i can state my opinion about any product here as long as it states; WHAT DO YOU THINK?? of course i cannot curse and belittle the products itself (have i yet?)
i havent said how flimsy some peices look, and question whether or not double sided 3m sticky tape will hold a wing on top of another wing so im in the clear. i give my honest opinions, and please keep yours coming too.

Hmm, looks to me like you are the one who needs to relax. You are taking this all way to personal. Because someone doesn't like something you have done to your car does not constitute a personal attack. It's just the way web boards are so you are going have to just get used to it. Web boards are about opinions, not everyone will agree. I wouldn't tell you to not post something reagardless of what I like or not, so what makes you think you have that right? Why don't you take your own advice and try to comprehend what I am saying.
