Chipped Windshield?
I've had 4 cars since I was able to drive and never had this problem with any of them except the Z. Ive had my Z for 3 months and since that time ive had 3 chips in my windshield. They havent spider'ed the windshield just left chips in it. Anyone else have this problem? Do i have a defective windshield?

I come from the same, 4 cars, and only the Z has this problem.
I have chips and a spiderweb on my windshield. Its still ok for now, but I'll probably replace mine next month maybe.

OP, it's because of the rapier of the bonnet, that the stones fly onto our windshields. Good luck, any decent window repair people should be able to fix the worst chips.

Nissan went cheap with the 350z windshield!
I am confident the windshield on the Z is not the best of quality. Less than a month of owning it I already had a chip, less than 2 yrs I had a dime size partial bullseye, this week I have an 8" vertical crack from a chip in the drivers side bottom of the windshield. I live in the mojave desert of SoCal where the car will bake in 115 degree heat so I likely will need to get it replaced. To compare, I have a 98 honda civic EX and that windshield has taken at least 5-7 major rock impacts and barely left a mark in it (to this day it has no major bullseyes, chips or cracks). I don't have the hard data to support my theory, but from a subjective point of view there is absolutely a difference in quality. I think this is another area they had to go cheaper on to make the Z the best value out there in its class.

I got my windshield replaced Friday.
All windshields, Z, Nissan or otherwise are thinner and lighter than they were years ago. Weight and cost savings are the driving factor. As long as they meet fed safety requirements that's what you're going to get.
I can remember replacing windshields twenty years ago and having them cost $200. The new windshield for the Z cost that same amount today. For a comparable windshield in equivalent dollars from 20 years ago, the Z windshield should have cost more like $1000.

Friday I came home from work early as I had a doctor's appointment in the afternoon. Everything with the Z was fine. When I went back out to go to my appointment, I noticed a 6" crack (it is now about 8") on the passenger side of my windshield that started from the side pillar. I do not recall a rock hitting my windshield at all prior to that. In any event, I called my insurance company and will be getting it replaced tomorrow or Tuesday.

mine got cracked this weekend. actually started as a small stone shot that i do not remember hitting the window. was fine for two days but then coming out of work yesterday, it is like the damn thing grew to over 400% the original size. question for those that replaced, how much did the replacement window cost + installation?

i got the same luck dude.
I had my Z for a freaking week before it got chipped.
My Pathfinder was like a month or two before it got replaced too.
matter of fact, my SI only was a few months old I think when that got cracked too.
Damn trucks on the highway. I need a RPG launcher in my pass seat
I got my chipped fixed yesterday for free. Dont ask. .. but it shoulda cost like $40-60
To replace the windshield I think I was quoted at like $275-290

I got my window cracked yesterday on my way to buy my JWT Popcharger. It feels like I'm paying double for the Popcharger now since I have to get my windshield replaced.
