Default Whos had the huevos to paint their own headlights?

Hey My350z. I want to know who has painted their own headlights on this site. i know about Mr. Zipps but i want to do it cheaper and i think if i have some encouragement from the board i might do this job myself. People who have done this, what problems can i avoid and what steps worked best for you. I have seen the DIY write-up on tech but i want to see others opinions. Thanks.

I color matched mine. Wasn't too hard. The only problem I had was the sealant was real messy taking it off. If you do it right though you don't have to add anymore silicone to the light when putting it back together. I just reheated mine and closed it up as much as I could. Then I heated it again and tightened the screws up. It hasn't leaked any and has had water over it.

I'm in the middle of shoe-horning some e46 BMW bi-xenon's into my base housings.. it's been a *****, but as long as you take your time, USE CARDBOARD IN THE OVEN, and be careful about the temps (350z - tech..) when you open the lights/ after that it's a matter of how good you are with spraypaint and masking.

I did mine about 2 weeks ago ('05 - non '06 ). There are a few DIY threads about it - either on here or on some other Z sites. I just followed the instructions and they came out pretty good.

I honestly can't remember. I did mine over 6 months ago. It should be in the tech section though.

Here's a pic of mine.

Now, what turn signal bulbs do people recommend? And also where do you get the clear strip for the 03-05 headlights?
