Exclamation Need Help ASAP Please

I removed and replaced my front bumper last night and forgot to put the black styrofoam bar that goes in between the aluminum brace/real bumper and the bumper cover. (I did not finish until 5am and had to be at work in the morning, gimme a break) It is a fiberglass after market bumper. I was wondering if the styro piece is actually needed or if it merely to pass the 5mph DOT bumper rating. I can see how it could help reinforce the front bumper especially because it is fiberglass but how important is it? Can I just leave it out, or do I need to put it back ASAP? Thanks for the help guys!

Many people running aftermarket front bumpers remove that piece.

I know it is common practice to do so on certain vehicles, but was thinking with the shape of the Z front bumper it may be needed.

I might use it with a urethane bumper, but with a fiberglass bumper if it flexes that much it will break anyway.

well, i used to run it all the time, but since the addition of my oil coolers, it doesnt fit... its mainly for the 5mph collision as not to have the front bumper cave in as much..and to dissipate the force evenly on the aluminum crash beam.

you can leave it out no big deal.

i've gotten down to taking off my front bumper in under 3 minutes! you should try it .. hehe.
